Had a busy weekend...
Birdman - Great. Foxcatcher - Great. The Hobbit - Enjoyable, though there wasn't much of a Hobbit presence in it and Smaug dies in the first 15 minutes. The Skeleton Twins - Enjoyable. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) - Absolutely awful.

Watched 'Battle Royale' on Netflix for the first time last night after putting it off for months. I loved it, and it makes me want to watch more Japanese movies.. It didn't quite live up to the graphic novels (I own a couple).. But it was super ed up and fun to watch.. I couldn't help but think throughout the movie though, how many similarities it had to 'The Hunger Games'. If I didn't know any better, I'd say Suzanna Collins used alot of the material from 'Battle Royale' to craft 'The Hunger Games'.. Some stuff seemed blatant. This is why i can't get into the Hunger games films, to Tame, too PG compared to this. Battle Royal is what Hunger games Should have been but then it wouldn't make all the money from the kids who go and watch it.

First movie in a while - Last Night.
Excellent plot, Guillaume Canet's acting game was on point, once again.

The Imitation Game (2014)
A moving film about mathematician Alan Turing who, along with a group of scholars, cracked unbreakable codes sent through Germany's Enigma machine during World War II, leading to Britain's victory over Germany. Within this story of triumph, however, lies one of defeat. Despite being a hero to his country, Alan Turing was convicted for indecency for having been in a homosexual relationship, which was a criminal offence in the United Kingdom at the time. He was then placed on probation and forced to undergo hormonal treatment to reduce his libido. Because of his conviction, Turing was barred from continuing with his cryptographic consultancy for the government and was denied entry into the United States. Two years after his conviction, Alan Turing committed suicide by way of cyanide poisoning.
Benedict Cumberbatch is impeccably perfect as Alan Turing, and Keira Knightley and the entire supporting cast are illuminating in this well-crafted biopic.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
My mom got me hooked on the franchise when I was little, I watched all the old movies and then the sh*tty Mark Wahlberg one from 2000, I really like this new arc from Rise and now Dawn. Damn good movie.

Wild: 8/10 - Impressive a movie about basically one woman just walking was as interesting as it was, Reese Witherspoon was great, and the flashback scenes were well integrated to keep a solid pace to the film.
The Imitation Game: 9/10 - Incredible performances all around, and I wasn't too familiar with the true story this was based off of, this did a great job telling such an important story. These type of movies usually aren't my cup of tea but this was great.
Foxcatcher: 9/10 - Steve Carell gives an iconic performance here, along with Jake Gylenhall in Nightcrawler this year, easily the two creepiest characters I've seen on screen since Patrick Bateman. Ruffalo was great, and Tatum puts in a career performance. Slow paced is putting this film lightly, and it isn't an easy watch, but it makes you uncomfortable in the way its going for, and it was just done so well.

Dumb and DumberJust one of the best comedy movies ever. Still has me in stitches. Dumb and Dumber ToWent in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Pretty funny movie. Some cringey and unfunny bits but not bad on the whole. I doubt the rewatch value will be very good though. Jurassic ParkIt just never gets old. What an incredible movie. The Inbetweeners 2Some hilarious moments, but overall I'd just rate it 'not bad'.
