What's your story behind the reason you collect wrestling figures? Just curious to what some of you will say.

Nothing like owning something new and clearly, lots of us are materialists. Not to mention, the incredible job Mattel has done with the Elite line. These aren't just figures anymore, they're literally art. It's like Pokemon... gotta catch 'em all. - Triple S

Been a wrestling since at least 1980. Can't remember anything before age 4. Got into action figure collecting in 2003, with Marvel Legends and the occasional DC Direct figure, then the Mattel DCSH/DCUC lines. Eventually I started picking up random Jakks CS figures, jumping in at the deep end when Matty got the WWE license.

for me it's all about nostalgia. I loved collecting the Hasbros as a boy and it's continued. Collecting figures brings me back to a happier time, pretty much a much needed escape and hobby from life at times

My first figure was a crappy Jakks Al Snow. I was in love with wrestling and I wanted to get everyone as a kid Although Jeff Hardy alluded me until 2001..

As a kid, I loved the Rock-n-Wrestling connection (Cyndi Lauper and Piper, specifically). Then I watched the Cartoon and the USA network shows. I was hooked. I bought some of the LJN's with birthday money (Savage, Valentine, Bundy) and I was hooked. I collected Habros (still have my whole collection--including Dusty Rhodes that my brother found for me at $3.88 at TRU when I was little) then I got the BCA's. I skipped the TTLs as I thought they looked crappy. Got into R-3 and was sad to see them switch to RA. I got into RA's (too much) and now I really like Elites (best of all figure types--R3 and good articulation AND sculpts and headscans). I try to watch the shows but TNA is just bad and WWE gets boring to me. The Punk storyline got me back into taping RAW, at least.

My reasons are exactly what superwwefigures and Triple S said. If you want to know how, I started watching in November 2007. My friend Jesse already had an awesome assortment of DA's and ruthless agression. We'd play with them and more and more I got hooked. My first figure I bought was a Wrestlemania 24 Triple H. Jesse gave me a lot of figures in the beginning and we would eventually trade figures here and there. The my friend Steven and I started trading figures. By the time Mattel started, I had 100 Jakks. Now I have 30 Mattels. I love wrestling, and figures let me have my own fed/shows and animate.

Wrestling is a passion of mine. I collect the figures because it's exciting. The excitement of running into a store and seeing a fresh case on the shelves is amazing. I started when I was 5 and now I'm 17 so it's been a fun 12 years of collecting. It's just addictive and fun!

I just like to 'own' possessions of certain forms of media and entertainment that I enjoy. It's like having a material version of something that you can otherwise only see visually. Same reason I buy movie, comicbook and video game toys! I think there's also a little bit of nostalgia involved in it for me. Heck, half the reason I'm watching wrestling is for the nostalgia.

If I like something, I feel I need to have an action figure from it. If I like a movie, my first stop after the movie is usually Target to see the action figures (provided that it is a movie that would have action figures). I guess I am just wired that way. My mother blames herself for not buying me the Corgi Batmobile set that I wanted 40 years ago. LOL

In 2009 i watched some wrestling animations and review videos using wrestling figures in which i fall in love. Then i wanted to get them because i loved and liked the way how they was made and thought that it will be very nice to have & collect them. And then i started buying 1/2 figures a month with my own money to build a sweet collection.

Was always a huge Hulk Hogan fan and I wanted more of his memorabilia and when I saw the CS nWo Hogan I had to have it. Then I saw all the other figures of him and little by little my collection grew from just 1 Hogan to I just want to get all the Hogans to I need to get his biggest rivals to I wanna get all the figs I like.
So I never planned to collect figures but little by little they grow on you and be4 u know it ur hooked.

I quit playing with toys around the time I started watching wrestling, and missed some epic figures. So I said screw this I'm getting them for display at least. JAKKS RA line made me start, they were leaps above figures that had come before.

Loved it as a kid and of course had loads of TTL's which where my favourtie figures along with my Star Wars stuff.
I guess nostalgia as well as an enjoyment I get out of it at this age. I love watching wrestling and to be able to re-create things as well as appreciate the figure itself for the wonderful job Mattel has done is great. My imagination is one thing that helps me keep collecting.
