I think from day one Edge was always considered the bigger star.
Remember, Edge came in as a singles wrestler. Christian came in as Edge's brother.

People love to hate Christian. He reminds me of Ric Flair not really in a wrestling sense but in a sense that he can call you an fat boy and you would still cheer him or boo him but love the fact that he is out there at least.

I personally thought they both reeked of awesomeness.

Edge was pegged by the WWE from the get-go. Christian was way more talented at a variety of points during their career (see also Matt Hardy) but it didn't really matter. If the WWE pegs you to be a top guy, they will make you one regardless.
It's sort of like how Randy Orton was constantly pushed, despite a million guys coming in to the roster that were better in every way. None of them got an ounce of Orton's push, because WWE wanted Orton to be a big star. Thus they forced him into one.

I love both guys and at one point actually did prefer Christian, but I think it comes down to the fact that Edge does have a better look as well as a bit more natural charisma and those things will always give you edge in pro wrestling or in anything for that matter.

I think it has to do with his look. Edge had something about him that made him look like a star. Christian just looks like a regular guy. I also think that Edge's ring work was more exciting. Sure, Christian is technically better in the ring, but there's not really anything stand out or exciting about him.

One difference is I sometimes find it hard to find christian believable. He always sounds like he's joking where as Edge always pulled the character off believably. Whether heel or face, christian isnt always believable to me.

Both are awesome. Edge was just pushed more and got over with the crowd easier. Personally, I think Christian is in a good spot right now. Crowd doesn't know weather to boo him or cheer for him, he was just so over before he went heel.

I think Christian is a better in-ring worker, a better heel and a better face (see: his TNA World Heavyweight title run).
Basically, Christian was the underappreciated of the two, but now with the World title reign and Edge retired... hopefully things will change.

Actually, I've always preferred Christian over Edge.
I was really happy to see him get this "push".
