I guess it can vary because usually an adult collector's 'loose' figure will be mint and basically new as where a younger person's played with figure is not mint and usually marked etc.

What are some reason for loose figures, is it because of the belt and other neat things that come in that packet?

I don't care if anyone says anything about it!!!! I collect because it is awesome that we have these smaller versions of wrestlers that i admire and enjoy watching. It makes me feel as if i can control the events and relive great matches. Same goes for the video games of wrestling.

Because some (like myself) rather collect/display them loose on shelves as I feel they look better loose and they also take up less space.
As to why I collect what I do? With the Legends/Classics it's because of the memories they bring back from when I was younger watching wrestling with my late father when I look at them.
Modern wreslters - I collect the few guys I enjoy watching. If I don't find them entertaining I don't buy their figures. Unless they are in a 2-Pack I want or part of a buy 2 get 1 free sale(Then I might grab them as the free figure if there's nobody else I want)
My DC & Marvel superheroes are because I loved them as a kid in the 70's and never outgrew them. Sports figures I buy my two favorite teams (Raiders & Pirates)

i grew up with so much passion and desire to one day become professional wrestler. all my favorite memories are with WWE ( WWF ).. having those two Defining Moments Warrior & Macho King displayed on my desk at work remind me of my mom crying when Elizabeth came to the rescue of Randy Savage..
although i will greatly miss running into toys r us to find a legends series, atleast we have DM and two Flashbacks..
and a two pack maybe once a year ( rockers!)
and a random basic heritage

Collecting means a lot, I might not have a collection as large as most on here (I have around 330 figures I think...) but I tend to collect the figures I want, rather than buying loads just for the sake of it.
Also, to me, each figure holds a different memory whether it's personal or just of a great match / wrestler. For example, if I look up at my top shelf, there is my signed 1/3000 Sunny Bodydonnas figure, it makes me think of that time just before the Attitude Era (The New Generation, some might call it) and how fun wrestling was, it also reminds me of how Sunny was my first crush and how great it was to actually meet her all those years later when I got that figure signed.
Or I can look at a Bret Hart figure and think "He's the reason I am a wrestling fan", think of all the great matches I watched growing up and think of how much he was my hero.
In general, my collection takes me back to a time when I was happy, I was full of hopes, not a care in the world and I believed in something. Who wanted nothing more than to be the Intercontinental Champion (Oddly the World title didn't appeal to me as much).
It's nice to have something like that when you grow up to be just some loser who works in a horrible job that they hate for over 40 mind numbing hours per week and spends the rest of their time alone as no one can be bothered to have anything to do with them unless they are getting something out of it, but you're used to it as your relatives have always been like that, to Hell with them... I went a bit off topic there...

I was a sickly kid as I had terrible Asthma, allergies to everything under the Sun and was always ill up until I was about 16. During that time, all I had were books, comics and action figures.
Those figures represent fond memories of my childhood and are the bright spot I have through a lot of dark times between being ill, in the hospital, having my parents fighting all the time. They were my escape from reality and unhappiness.
Fast forward decades later and I'm healthy, strong and a father of 2 little girls, still collecting action figures as not only a fun escape, but now as an heirloom so my kids can pass on the collection to their children and so forth.
Collecting is a fun way for me to express my enjoyment for characters I like...an escape from the office, rigors of every day life....it is a part of who I am.

Even though you went off topic at the end it still was a great read, and sorry to hear about that stuff at the end of what you had to say. Some people just don't know good people when they see them and that's there loss not yours dude.

I actually just got the Elite 2 Darren McFadden figure the other day. And to answer OP's question, I collect because I love having figures of guys I watched when I was younger. I watched from like '90 to 2002ish? So I only collect Legends.

I Love Figures so much and well my life has been ed up alot so i enjoy sitting home enjoying collecting. I can relate too your car accidents too BluePrint only my accident, i was up in NYC at the what use too Best Western Ambassador Hotel 6 years ago and i leaped from a 4th story window straight toot he ground and had my face smashed off an A/C at the bottom. Ever since that i had alot happen too me losing family and homes and just a horrible horrible turn for bad luck. It made me who i am today though and thats why i enjoy collecting figures. It keeps me home outta trouble and it makes me happy and knowing im buying somethign other than Drugs (Yes ive had a BIG drug problem before too sent too rehab twice, been too jail twice) but knowin i am putting my money and time toward better things then what i was, makes me the happiest of all. Collecting saved my life!! Mattel saved my life!!
