Sorry If I'm cluttering the topic list. I didn't know where to post this, so I thought it'd be alright to make my own topic. How long does it usually take to get your game at a midnight release? I've only been to one and I wasn't buying the game, I was just with my friend ( Modern Warfare 2). I'm going to get Gears of War 3 at midnight hopefully. I have to pick up me Ma from work, and then I'm gonna get in line at 10:45ish. I don't wanna make me Ma wait in the car for a long time, she's alright waiting until midnight as long as I get her Wendy's. How long after midnight will it take though? I said "probably fifteen minutes," but I don't have anything to back that. What's your experience from midnight launches? Also, have you had fun? Modern Warfare 2's was kind of lame because it was filled with people who thought they knew what they were talking about, spreading rumors and just plain B.S. among the crowd as if they were facts (some guy tried to claim that he knew that Saddam Hussein was a featured villain in the game when you travel to Iraq)

It depends on what game it is. Call Of Duty? You better get to the store by like 8PM and be ready to wait. Gears will probably be - not on the scale of CoD - but pretty big in its own right.
I say it depends on the game because when I got Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood at midnight when it launched, I was the only one there. Until about 5 of midnight, then like 6 or 7 other people showed up. I was the first one - at least from that GameStop - to have Brotherhood.

I really like the way Gamestop does it. Just show up at some point that day so they can sign and mark your reciept as being paid. Once Midnight rolls around, everyone with their signed and marked reciept lines up, hands over the reciept, and get a game and the reciept handed back. Goes rather fast since no one is having to pay or anything. Once all the pre orders or pre paid games are done, they start helping those that are buying it at that time.

I've been to four midnight releases. The first one was GTA IV and I waited about 15 minutes before I got my copy. The second was SmackDown vs Raw 2010 and I got it after 20 minutes because of a mix-up the staff member did when getting the game from the back. The third was SmackDown vs Raw 2011 and I got that straight away. The fourth was Call of Duty: Black Ops and I waited about 30-40 minutes before I got mine. I'll be getting Gears of War 3 at midnight as well, so I hope I can get mine quickly as alot of copies have been pre-ordered at my local GAME store.

I've done the Midnight Release for the last 2 WWE games, the last 2 Madden games, Beatles Rock Band and Batman: Arkham Asylum. I plan on doing it again for at least WWE 12. Each time, I was in and out in under 10 minutes, back home playing in 20.
I think Madden 12 took the most time, because like an idiot I didn't pay in full until I got the game so I had to wait a few mins longer.

Alright, thanks everyone! The way it sounds, I'm gonna head to Gamestop and make it's fully paid. I have it preordered at a different one, because I preordered it at the one closest to the university I was going to (which I no longer attend). I'll cancel it there, preorder it at the one close to my house and pay it off in full then. Then I'll pick it up that night.

Yeah make sure it's pre-ordered and paid in full at the one you are getting it at. You won't be able to pre-order it at one, and then go to a completely different store and get it.

Twice, Halo 3 and Halo Reach. I got on line at 7:30 for both, thankfully there was a pizzeria next to the Gamestop, So I had my friend go get me a couple of slices.

MW2 Halo 3 Halo Reach Black Ops
All of them I got there for around 9pm. Free food, and we played the games early.

I did it for Halo 3 and Reach. I might do it for Skyrim, but I won't with any others. I did pick up Gears 2 and Black Ops at midnight on launch at Wal-Mart, walked in and walked out in about 5 minutes with my games in hand.
Now though I don't see any need for going to midnight launches because you can get basically any game off amazon.com for 99 cent release day shipping. Also, almost all of them come with $10-$20 credit you can use towards future purchases.

Every time I have gone for just a game, I am out by 12:15.
For consoles, it can take a lot longer.

I went to a release party for Dead Rising 2 with a friend at Target. I was going to buy a copy of it, but the store ended up running out. they only had like 20 copies or something stupid. The said they'd have more copies in the morning, and gave anyone who didn't get a copy that night a $5 gift card. I took their $5 gift card, bought some food, and came home and ordered it from Amazon for $2 cheaper with a free $10 gift card.

I've never done this before so I'm glad you made the thread since I will try to do it for Skyrim on 11/11/11. I have woke up early [like 6 am or something] for Pokemon White/Black but it wasn't at midnight. I hope the Elder Scrolls V line is short at my Gamestop.

I have never understood why people line up so earl for pre-ordered games at Gamestop. Consoles I understand, but just games, it's very rare they have a shortage. You get in line at 7, you leave with your game at 12:05. You get in line at 11:45, you leave with your game at 12:15. It's just a waste of time. Consoles I understand more because there is often a shortage of supply. But with the games, unless you just realy enjoy standing in a line for no reason, I don't get it.

To me, it's more of the camaraderie of fellow gamers going out for the game. That's why the Assassin's Creed: Revelations one was a lonesome experience. I was the only there until like 5 of midnight, as I mentioned in my above post. It's also getting to play the games early. Plus, I pretty much sit at home every off day I have, so this is a reason for me to get out of the house, which I don't do very often. Stuff these days costs too much money, and I don't have enough of it to go around, lmao!

All any Gamestop ever does that I have been to, is open the store and sell me the game at midnight.

The Modern Warfare 2 event that I stopped by had pizza and Monster Energy Drinks...but that was about it. I didn't stay any longer than 30 minutes with my buddy while I waited for a ride.

Seeing as 3 of the 4 midnight releases I went to was at a 24 hour store, the Black Ops one I went to wasn't, so I though they were going to do something special for it, but all they did was give out (while charging £1 I believe) tickets so one lucky winner could get the most expensive edition for the standard game price.
I didn't enter it as I was only going for the standard edition anyway, so was the guy that won lol. He wasn't even excited when he won, he was like "oh, that's cool I guess". I'd probably react the same way to be honest, as that edition didn't really interest me.
