Being super excited that i received all my order confirmations for figs too arrive early next week, i decided last night too pop in the OMG top 50 WWE moments and watch them. As i was i reached the lower numbers and sure enough, up came the infamous Montreal screw job. The more i watched Bret enter the ring, the more i thought Holy cow, He got the leather jacket, the Canadian Flag, the World title i thought, this is the Bret Hart we are receiving in Defining Moments. During his match he had the same attire on as well. Pink Wrist bands, Black Outfit with Pink trim, black elbow pads, canadian flag in his corner and of course it was for the World Championship Winged Eagle title. I noticed Mattel labeled the box on DM5 Canadian Stampede IYH. How on earth could they mix up the infamous Montreal Screw Job with the Canadian Stampede Bret, as at Canadian Stampede, Bret did not even Holy the world tile then? Back then it was the Undertaker and Bret was in the big 10 man tag team match, teaming with Anvil, Owen, Bulldog, Pillman to take on Austin, LOD, Shamrock, Goldust. Thought this would be some helpful info knowing where the upcoming Bret Hart was originally from as i said i just noticed this last night.

I claim to be one of the biggest Bret Hart fans out there and I didn't even pick up on this...you know what though, it doesn't bother me one bit, I want that belt too! The only belt I have for my figures is Intercontinental. I need that winged eagle!

I guess it matters if you keep the figure in the box, but if not it really doesn't matter at all to me. I'm just happy to have a Mattel Bret figure finally.

Would you rather an inaccurate figure with a free winged eagle belt (it would cost the same without the belt as all DM figures are the same price point) or an accurate figure without a belt? I choose the free belt.

I choose the free belt. i think your missing the point! the figure is VERY accurate as too the montreal screw job.. its just the labeling is wrong on the box is all im pointing out.. i personally have no prob with this.. its just a neat piece of last min info i picked up last night watching the OMG DVD and wondered if anyone else knew that this bret was from the Montreal screw job too?

He wore that attire from DM 5 throughout most of his 97 run.. Not just Survivor Series 97. He won the title a month later from the stampede, at summerslam. Plan on painting the globe blue though if u want it accurate, because it's black like Warriors. I don't know why, since the toy fair pics show the blue globe on the warrior..

Hm, weird. But then again, Cena didn't bring the spinning US belt with him when he got drafted to Raw, but I'm still happy to have it included. No biggie.

Maybe Bret didn't want ANOTHER figure to be based around the Screwjob? He's one of the best of all time, but his entire career has been tied around that one moment

Maybe Bret himself preferred to have his figure from Canadian Stampede instead of the screwjob? Either way, hey, free belt! You can always just put it on Warrior or Savage.

Yeah, it would have been disrespectful to label Bret being unceremoniously axed out of the belt as a defining moment. He's done so much for the business besides that which he should be remembered for.

While I think mattel intentionally did this to avoid calling it the screw job pack. In Canadian Stampede he wore that same outfit, as he did for must of his 1997 run. The flag and belt were just a "bonus". Hell I'm not complaining lol. If no1 wants the belt I'll take it from u guys!

Montreal Screw Job isn't a Defining Moment for Bret so this is just fine.

I believe both Mattel and Bret have said that this figure is from the Canadian Stampede and they added the belt as a bonus. I've heard Bret say a number of times that his favorite moment in his career was the Canadian Stampede and having the whole family in the ring after the match in Canada.

Yeah your right I noticed this about 3 weeks ago, but did not comment because I felt it was incegnificant. It is cool to know secretly this is what mattel was going for but......now that you pointed it out! Any way yeah he wore all black alot during this time, and who cares if its exactly accurate its a BRET HART figure!

Montreal Screw Job isn't a Defining Moment for Bret so this is just fine. Are you kidding? The Montreal Screwjob is the Defining Moment of Bret's career. When 99% of fans think Bret Hart, the first thing they think of is his rivalry with Shawn and the Screwjob.

I've heard Bret say a number of times that his favorite moment in his career was the Canadian Stampede and having the whole family in the ring after the match in Canada. This. And I'm pretty sure they explained it at the SDCC or the Q&A right after. Oh and it's "their" history not "there" history.

Where did all this complaining about the belt even come from honestly?? lol i said nothing about the belt at all haha i said that at Canadian Stampede.. BRET HART did NOT have the world title or a canadian flag, when you watch him enter at Survivor Series 97 he is wearing everything the defining moments bret has on. This is a awesome figure for me as that was such a crazy moment in WWE history.. someone said it best that i can see why Mattel switched the name because they didnt wanna disrespect Bret Calling it Survivor Series 97, so they called it Canadian Stampede In Your House.. but compare the 2.. watch Canadian Stampede and watch Survivor Series 97 and see which ones closest to the DM5.. just saying that im sure most of you will see that this Bret is the Screw Job one and they prob switched the name. Yes The Montreal Screw Job was a defining moment in Brets Career as ppl are always going too talk about it..It may not have been a good Moment but its still an incredibly shocking moment in Brets Carreer.. I actually still remember the night he got screwed and started smashing everything up and spit on vince and wrote WCW in the air.. at that time, i could not believe he was writting WCW on a WWE ppv lol that was so intense of a moment. I almost forgot how intense til i watched it last night
Fast forward too 2:37 and you are gonna see what i mean and understand.. i know what mattel says but what they say and what really is happening here are 2 different things

Let's not beat around the bush this is a montreal screwjob Bret whether Mattel calls it that or not.

The only reason people are talking about the belt is because you stated it was inaccurate because he didn't have the belt at Canadian Stampede, but it's nice to have a belt come with the figure, regardless of inaccuracies. P.S. www.educationbug.org/a/to-vs--too.html
