Bereavment is actually a decent film. I enjoyed it. I loved it. Bereavement was much better than Malevolence. Do you have to watch the first to understand the second? Might pick it up if not. Always in the mood for some new, unfamiliar horror.

They are two totally different types of films as well which makes it even more interesting. Bereavement plays as more of a tribute to psychological thrillers were Malevolence is a tribute to the 70's and 80's slasher film straight up.

Why haven't I really heard of these films? Not big releases? I didn't know about Malevolence until I imdb'ed the director of Bereavement. Malevolence didn't really do much for me, but Bereavement is an absolute must see. Has anybody else seen Puppet Monster Massacre? I just watched it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect it to be great, which it wasn't, but it was entertaining considering it's 70 minutes of sock puppets.

Picked a great time of year to hit up this thread! Super excited about my purchases today! Grabbed 2 movies that I've wanted on DVD for 10 years, but never get around to buying. Yup, Evil Dead and Dawn of The Dead are finally mine! No more VHS copies! I also grabbed the theatrical cuts of Zombie's Halloween movies and a "gift set" of Ghostbusters 1 and 2 for my kids.

I am still trying to find that one steal for the season......I am looking into More Brains.....as I love documentaries on horror and the new Hellraiser looks interesting.

Paranormal Activity 3 is easily the worst of the bunch. What started out as an actual spooky batch of films is now a complete joke.

So it turns out the Library Ghost at the start of Ghostbusters scares the crap out of my 3 year old son. He looked through the scrap book that came witht he movies two days ago and was woke up from a nightmare at 3am. The nightmare was about the ghost. I tried to show him that it was actually a funny part of the movie, but he was too scared to even watch the beginning with Alice. Guess that movie is out for this year!

Yeah, that running from Jason and trying to film it is counter productive. The problem with "It" is that Penny Wise is one's own interpertation of what he should be. So I hope it would not be anything lame like the first movie. Why is Nightmare out of the question? It seems like the people that made it didn't even like the Nightmare remake. As for "IT", it honestly always felt like 2 different movies to me. The first half when they were kids was great. The second half...meh When i would watch "it" as a kid i would only watch the first VHS tape. Best part of the movie imo.

Yeah, second half of "It" is kind of lame. Always thought it dragged on, could have been cut out from the film.

I remember watching it as a miniseries or whatever and just being like, "What the Hell happened?"

Good review! I've always considered The Crow to be part horror movie. I remember watching it for the first time alone in my basement/rec room with no lights on. Would have probably been about this time of year, since it was a week before Halloween. The girl I had a crush on in grade 9 was obsessed with drawing Eric Draven and did so really well. Damn, she was hot! Now she's a school teacher and her mom lives up the street from me....life is weird.

What better way to get into the horror spirit then to watch Kevin Smith's first entry in the genre? Just got Red State. Kind of not sure what to expect here.
