Still haven't seen Quarantine 2. But I do like the first one.

So, question. I'm not too big on the modern thriller/horror scene right now. I'm more of a fan of the classics, with Horror movies, the black-and-whiter the better in my opinion. So...is there anything more recent you all'd recommend? They've been out for a while, but Desecration and Horror have a great 70s Italian feel.

Sad to see the old thread go I think this was much needed. We made it to 1000 pages, and 6 years. Here's to atleast 4 more, so we can say we lasted a full 10 years. Wish I was here to post on the first page of this one, the same as I was the last time around, but what can you do?
As far as classic horror, tried watching The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari the other night, but it was too slow. I know it's a classic, but tv screwed up my attention span I guess.

Still haven't seen Quarantine 2. But I do like the first one. Yeah, I just finished watching it. I liked it a lot. I didn't think it was going to have much or anything to do with the first movie, because it is nothing like rec 2. But they are connected and it explains a lot of unanswered questions from the first movie and also raises some new ones.

Though I liked REC 2, I didn't really like the "explanation" of the problem.

so theres no Nightmare remake sequel inbound?that sucks.it was one of the few Horror remakes I liked.I also enjoyed
TCM remake-prequel was awful though When A Stranger Calls Dawn Of The Dead(thought it was great)
im probably forgetting one or two but I enjoyed all of the above.
Im currently looking forward to Paranormal 3 and The Thing prequel.

So I'm sort of just getting into horror, what are some movies you lot recommend me to watch? OI STOP COPYING ME!! >:l Well i started watching 3 weeks ago. Look up Monster Madness, it's a show by James Rolfe (AVGN) on Youtube, he does it every October (since 2007) and every 1 minute video he does a little review of a horror film. Watch the 2007 ones, he reviews all the classics then. I started with Freddie vs. Jason. I found it interesting, didn't understand Freddie Kruger very much, went back to my DVD store and got Massacre on Elm street 1 and 2. I really enjoyed those!! I also picked up Scream (the first one) that was very good as well. Edit: Almost forgot, Shawn/Shaun of the dead (can't remember how to spell it ) is a comedy/zombie movie, that was awesome. :3

These guys never go away. I have no idea how or in what form. As for Texas Chainsaw Massacre... Next October Leatherface will be on the big screen again in Leatherface 3D which is actually somehow a sequel to the ORIGINAL film. Should be interesting. PS: Giving away a copy of Subspecies on Blu-Ray if anyone wants to give it a go. www.benevolentstreet.com/?p=6435

Oh wow! A new thread was very much needed Tony, thanks for that. I also appreciate you leaving the old one around for the memories. I almost thought for sure someone would move or delete it!
Here's to another 1,000 plus pages. I doubt we will get there, but I'm more than happy to help out. Had some REALLY fun times in that thread.
As for horror, I got my Nightmare on Elm Stree 2/3 Blu-ray pack in the mail yesterday. Saw Tucker and Dale vs. Evil at the Minneapolis Film Festival a few weeks back, hilarious and full of some awesome gore.
Saw The Human Centipede II last night. Was very disappointed. I liked the first one because it wasn't that gory or as sick as people claimed, but it was an odd little horror film. The second one only exists to try and evoke some sort of response from the viewers by the gore and such. Nowhere near the sickest film of all time. A few parts were gross, but if you watch enough horror then you've seen it all before. Really bad movie though.. one and done for sure.
I'm curious/interested in checking out A Serbian Film, which hits Blu this month in the US. Heard that one really makes you uneasy.

I have yet to see The Human Centipede. I have yet to hear anything endearing to me about it at all, even with the "it's so bad it's good" reviews.

A Serbian Film's plot is strong enough that it goes beyond the typical all shock, no substance feel of recent gross out movies. If you enjoy it, check out Red, White & Blue and Cargo 200 if you haven't seen them.

Currently writing for 3 sites at the moment, but depending on what you want I could try and help out. Just looking for someone to pop an article up once or twice per week that is dependable. Can post more if willing. Reviews (movies, horror video games, books, merchandise etc), editorial/opinion pieces, humor pieces. Stuff like that. May add 1-3 people if the right people apply.

So I'm sort of just getting into horror, what are some movies you lot recommend me to watch? I'd recommend starting with some of the modern classics. At this time of year, you NEED to watch the original Halloween if you haven't seen it yet. I'd also check out the original Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Friday The 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and Texas Chain Saw Massacre. That should get you started...
