inadvertently commandeering this thread a bit since it's obvious both Bill and the MDT are reading this one...
Any official word on why you guys are committed to the design of the extra large knee pads? It's not accurate, it's not functional. I'm asking an honest question - is it just a design choice that you guys like or are you contracted with some supplier to use that mold til it breaks??? The large knee pads do not work.

I kinda wondered about the knee pads too.. they look good on guys like Punk, Jericho etc but they are no good for bending the figures knees.. thats the only thing i dont like about them really.. Its too bad they couldnt keep them this size, and maybe make them out of a thinner more flexible rubber or something that way they would still look bad ass like they do, yet the figures knees could bend and have mobility alot better.

not being functional is one thing, but take a look at that all-pink Bret Hart in the package where you can see those extra large pink knee pads - they are so big there's a gap formed by the pads around his thighs!!! When has Bret ever worn knee pads like that?
If I've convinced you about it not being functional, surely you guys can appreciate that guys like Bret never wore large knee pads like that? What's baffling to me is that MDT has access to the smaller - more accurate/functional knee pads - hell I got every colour in the book so far, even pink (DH Smith).
Again I know this is supposed to be a Bundy thread, but MDT/Bill made their call on that issue already.

being an RA collector, who's only interest in mattel is for Legends, I haven't bought many Mattels. So i'm not really familiar with the big knee pad problem Bandalero is describing... but surely mattel made those knee pads for a reason, I'd assume there must be someone in WWE who wears kneepads like that? I don't watch current WWE anymore so I don't know. And regarding the " King Kong Bundy" issue, I figured it was obvious why Mattel did that.... I mean put it this way... would you wanna ask a 50-foot monkey if you could borrow his name?

yeah there is ppl who wear them like that i.e Punk, Kofi, Jericho etc I agree they are not the best choice for the Exclusive Bret and hey, they may not even be on that Bret in the end.. look at cody rhodes.. they displayed him with knee pads and Mattel said they hurried up and did that for a final product too show off at RSF.. Mattel said Cody wont have those pads on when the figure releases so maybe Bret wont.. that Bret couldda been a proto display type fig... either way im betting there are more superstars who use the smaller knee pads over the ones using the bigger ones so they may have decided too put them on Bret just too use up there stock of bigger knee pads ya know!? its hard too say.. i personally dont mind those big knee pads like i said, look wise that is, but mobility its a little hard too smile about on certain elites cause it really does limit there posing down or the moves you try posing them into etc

I Agree on the Kneepads Whole Heartedly, No offense to anyone but more often than not they dont look right on the figure. I love mattels medium and small size pads i think those were used more often by legends I Think Medium Size Would Fit Better

well, guess I'm saving money, then. Not going to spend money on a figure when his actual name can't even be on the package.. i can see how it might bother MOC collectors, but speaking as a loose collector TBH I couldn't care less what it says on the package. I know who it is, and I'm a fan of the person, whatever their label. that goes for tv ringnames as well as figure packaging names. Sure it's preferable to have their most famous name on there, with all the attire logos and everything printed as we remember. But it's not always possible. Copyrights expire or get passed around, and obviously WWE is going through this PG motion censoring everything now. But for me, as long as the face is a decent likeness, the expression suits the character, the body is fairly accurate and the attire is in the spirit of the character, then I'm fine with it. Hey Mattel, how about a "Mr. Buttocks" Monty Sopp and a "Gothic Gentleman" David Heath??! llllllets get ready to... GO P.G.!!!

What you mean it makes no sense? lol it makes perfect sense.. i can understand your opinion too, but im almost betting they have a ton of different style boot molds around and they prob just use those up, using the largest boot mold, rather then spending money cutting out a whole new design for one figure. It would look good if they did that what you said but it would take more time and money and considering more superstars use the little knee pads over the kickpads/kneepads combo, they prob just dont want all these extra useless plastic too tall boots sitting around the factory.. You gotta remember that Mattel is a company and employee's ppl, who show up too work everyday and get paychecks or salary. To them, this is there job. Sure there trying too please the country and hell, they are doing alot better than most toy companies considering they take the time too jump on here and answer our questions, hear us out in polls and opinions etc but at the end of the day thats there employment and they got a budget they need too meet or stay under so they can get paid and go feed there families. I mean if they spent more cutting out larger plastic too make a select few ppl happy on knee pads and went well over the budget on that, or lost money some how because of this then they wouldnt be eating or feeding there family. Basically, there is a reason behind everything they do and they DO know what there doing. The look is not the bad thing about these knee pads.. in fact, its the last worse thing about them as i mentioned earlier its the mobility that ruins them. Hey, they could always throw on the small knee pads and paint the gap between the boots and knee pad like they did Big show lol i would rather the fig stay the way it was though before they resorted too that really.
lol hahaha this is the best thread i read in a month or 2, i never thought ppl were this picky haha all because Mattel cant put a guys nick name on the package lol its been amusing reading these non the less. I could see if something was wrong with the fig inside and you were a moc collector or even if the packaging was heavily damaged but them not including Bundy's nick name "King Kong" in his name is not going too make the figures value increase or decrease anymore, its not doing anything too the figure. So who cares if they cant do it.. you know who king kong bundy is right? thats why you would be buying the figure. Anyone you show the figure too MOC would obviously know king kong bundy i really dont see the point as too why its such a turn off too ppl cause they cant include "King Kong" legally in the name??

I Dont see how one kneepad is cheaper than the other, mattel claims accuracy, those tall pads arn't very accurate. to me the look IS the worst part. Quit kissing mattels ass, Details like that are not going to make their familys starve as you claim. Suddle details like brets glasses and correct kneepads make a huge difference in the end. I Love mattels figures too but why are you arguing for them not to change a thing? a lot of people hate the pads, you claim to not like them either..... i dont get it .... Mattel wants to hear what we think, We are letting them know our opinion on the large pads. Personally im tired of spending an extra $20 on another figure for its medium sized pads to make it look more accurate

lol its funny your one of those dudes gettin mad cause ya aint hearin what you wanna hear or somethin aint going your way.. what toy company do you work for again? That starving was just an example too get through to less smart ppl's heads like yours that there running a business, and that they have too stay on a budget.. And no one said anything about kneepads costing more, it was about the plastic being cut too make taller boot molds for the kick pads.. Sure, it would be great too make taller boot molds as i said in previous post above and get smaller pads, but its prob not going too happen considering we already lost the legends line and DM's and EG's too horrible sales. Why do you think Mattel would go wasting more money on plastic (yes! plastic does cost money believe it or not too make these) when there losing so much in lines already that failed?? Kissing ass is far from the truth, when i just see the figures for what Mattel is giving us and appreciating what im getting.. Im old enough too appreciate things in life and be thankful for the things i get not bitch, and whine, and cry, and picking out the smallest details and errors on everyones stuff just too judge them and complain. Hey, no one is forcing you too buy these Mattel figures.. thats your own choice, if you hate them that bad and gotta judge all the small errors, why do you even collect them and waste your money? lol You have no idea what its like too run a toy company, running the financial dept of a big corporation, busting your back too get products done with in a dead line, yet still try too please the consumer. So stop lookin like an ass and sounding ungrateful bitching about small details and wanting everything your way cause your not gonna get.. start appreciating things more dude

Reading this thread about "Bundy" reminded me of when he competed in the AWA years and years ago. The announcers referred to him as Boom Boom Bundy. This was done since Bruiser Brody was also in the area where he was referred to as King Kong Brody. Guess they couldn't have two "King Kongs" in the same promotion. Just struck me as kinda weird.
As for the figure, I'm a loose collector, so even if I do pick up a Bundy fig, he's coming out of the package anyway.
