Sometimes I do when I spend 30 bucks online for a ten dollar Basic figure. But the worst is when I spend too much just for an accessory.
I bought the Elite Del Rio the other day just to add his scarf to my basic version. And I just bought the Elite Kane just for his MITB briefcase. I feel guilty for stuff like that. Then I come here and I'm told all Basic collectors are nothing but "penny pinchers"

I know where your coming from completely. I end up with a couple hundred bucks each month of extra spending cash after my bills and taking care of my dog and things i need so then i decide too order some new figs online and end up spending it all with in a matter of seconds. It makes me excited too know i have new figs coming and such, and when they come its pretty awesome for the day or 2 it lasts but after that, i just realize im spending all my extra cash on this plastic that just ends up sitting around on my desks or my shelves for month after months of time. For some reason, i just cant kick the habit though lol stuff is like heroin ya know ha when your a huge WWE fan and these awesome figures drop for pre order i cant help but want all the legends and new ones i dont have in my collection, its really hard too pass on, cause even when im waiting for those pre orders too ship a good 2 months from the time i place my order, all i can think about is how awesome these figs look and how sweet its going to be adding them too my collection and how the collection is going too look with them in it. I do suffer alot buying them though. As i said i spend any extra cash i got on the figs then for the rest of the month i sit home and never go out, never go shopping, never can go visit anyone, never can do nothing. I mean, i guess its at least a good thing my bills get paid and my dog and I are taken care of and eating and laundry is getting done and gas in the car incase of emergency, but It gets soooooooooo depressing sitting home month after month not hearing from anyone or going out too see any life. I look at it as at least i have something semi cool too show for the money unlike spending it on vacation that lasts 3 days and costs so much more, or going too see a show or concert for a couple hours, or buying beer or drugs etc. At least you see some money you invested into something you love sitting around on the shelves, but there has come a point recently where i said enough is enough. I just cant be spending everything on figures all the time, there has too be a point where i can stop and just start too save money finally. It dont make me sick, as much as it does depressed and a little angry at myself that i know i could be saving this money and should be, when im out spending it on freakin toys all the time. I declared that January, i wanna buy Andre and i wanna buy the Bossman and after those 2 really, im not going too be jumping on all these pre orders as much unless its someone really really big that i want (i.e Yokozuna, Earthquake, Giant Gonzalez etc). I already have most everyone i want now, so if i can cut it down too just buying 1 new figure a month, maybe 2 tops, and start saving the rest for summer or next years black friday and get myself something worth it like a new TV or laptop or clothes or a car etc than im going too do that NOTE: Good Topic btw!! At least i know i dont feel alone feeling like crap buying these things all the time. I love collecting them like i said, but in the end, there just plastic sitting around. Im too old too be playing with them. There very awesome looking figs, and make a very sweet WWE Fan display piece in your living room and or bedroom, but there only plastic toys and not worth someone my age blowing all his extra spendings on when i should be saving up for emergency's or other stuff. This is exactly what I go through, besides the going out part. Me and my better half still go to the movies, hang out with friends etc etc, but when it comes down to either buying something I could use rather than something that hangs on my wall, I go towards the latter. I don't know why I always choose figures, just something about them I guess.

It's hard enough in this world getting extra cash, let alone spend upwards to $15 in stores per figure. I collect both Elite and Basic, and I count over $520 worth of merchandise on my wall. I know it's not a lot to some people, but $520+ just hanging there is a decent chunk of change. EDIT: Im just saying $520, it's a LOT more. Just using simplistic math.

Yeah I prefer Basic over Elite mostly due to the smoother looking torso. So I was kinda offended to be called a "penny pincher" considering how much I spend on my collection.

I have people tell me all the time how stupid it is to collect "dolls" and how much a waste of money it is. I'm offended, yeah, but I just let it roll. I'm going to stop here because this thread could easily change topic from just a couple posts lol

I don't know about sick, but I have felt very distressed afterward that the majority of my allotted spending cash was spent in one shot for a handful of figures.
This comes down to the skyrocketing cost of figures. I know Mattel has said that the costs of materials and manufacturing are rising for everyone, but in less than 10 years time many action figures have doubled in price.
Example: Marvel Legends under Toybiz were $8 until they lost the license in 2006. Both DC Classics (a comparable brand) and Hasbro's Marvel Legends now sell for $16 or more.
Another example: Jakks Pacific Classic Superstars sold for $12, RA's sold for $8. Mattel's Elites sell for $16 and basics sell for $10-11.
I find myself buying a lot less figures these days because of the high costs. I tend to only buy Elites and new Basics that I feel will never be made again (like most of Nexus).

i started collecting in may of this year all because of yoshi tatsu's twitter pics lol about 6 months later and this is what i have amassed. its like a black hole as from really admiring the toy belts. i looked into replica belts, but then realize they were 'real' ones you could buy. i ended up ordering a millican winged eagle, which took my credit card to near its limits lol... i swore to lay off on the figures, but not completely. i guess its best to not just stop cold turkey and do it little by little. thankfully besides the macho punk 2 pack. i have just about everyone i want. if ziggler picks up steam on tv. i may think about his elite, but yes thinking about all the money i've spent on this hobby, does have me asking 'what the hell" lol i think its worse when for no reason at all i just have the sudden urge to go on a hunt and hit up 3-4 stores without even having something in mind to get. just to go. anyways thanks for reading. cheers and as long as noone is putting themselves in a financial hole, i say go for it. you only live once! I felt bad spending money on my 1/100 Terry Funk. i wanted it for so long and when i finally got it, its like" yea cool" but all it does is hang on my wall. I also bought too many exclusive. I have 1000s of dollars worth just hanging in my room. Thats not including all that is stored etc. like my mattels. i have almost every elite made, and basics of some guys. plus i have about 3000 jakks that are loose and about 300 MOC and about 200 Hasbros stored away. but at the end of the day i still have money to spend. we have a good income so im fortunate enough to be able to afford these without it affecting our lives much.

i understand but i think if you find urself questioning a purchase thats not too bad, but feeling deep regret is a sign maybe you dont care that much about these.. i was spoiled a little kid, w/ hasbros then when i was gettin older i bought myself 2 of every bca incl. multiples of many.. years later i work hard 2 jobs, i could get more, but i only have my fav legends on display .thats it..
i would love to have the current wwe roster on display loose or moc, since i am a big fan of the product today..but i use restraint because i am saving for a HOUSE , take good care of my health (food, and i love gym clothes and work clothes (suits)...
theres def no problem unless you r late on mortgage or car cause of elite 11!!... but sumtimes it is good to practice a little common sense restraint.. like not buy a repaint and instead buy your neice or nephew or child a toy for them to play with.. then enjoy in their enjoyement..
if i won the powerball tonight.. i prob would buy every mattel ever made, and build huge elaborate displays with real scale arenas and lights .. but 4 now im gonna enjoy my only 2 purchases in oct & nov : rsc Macho King & The Rockers.. next item from mattel i plan to buy:.. Andre in Jan, then rsc Rumble1993 Bret heck i fill up my tank twice a week at $57 each !..darn!

All that Im saying is dropping a lot of money at once. I never regret buying figures because it's a passion of mine. And I own my house already. I don't have a mortgage and only have to deal with my taxes at the end of the year. EDIT: And I'm curious, what does filling up the tank in your vehicle have any relation to this topic?

It's not so much the money anymore because I have cut way back on my buying. However, I do regret the time I spend hunting. Like today, I planned on going to just one Walmart and one Target. Well..three and half hours, 3 Walmarts, 2 Targets and a Toys R Us later, I'm back home. "Wasted" a big chunk of the day on almost nothing.
Now I did manage to pick up a short haired CM Punk FF figure, so today wasn't too bad, but on the days I come home empty handed, it's a bummer. I could have/should have went to the gym, go for a run, or do some work but...

When I look back now and start to put some numbers together, starting from cs series 2 when I first saw the ric flair and mankind figures hanging on the pegs, those are the figures that re started the addiciton, with all my trips to the store, ebay, online... Im over the 10,000 range... Wow! But I wouldn't change a thing!

I spend extra money on figures, not ALL my money.

I don't buy more than I can afford. I try to only get 1 or 2 per paycheck, I think if I cut into my going out with my friends money or my savings then yes, I would feel pretty bad. I like setting 100-200 aside every few months to go on a big hunt when a lot of new stuff is hitting and also pick up old stuff I find along the way.

I only feel bad when like today for example, i plan on going out to buy figs and i dont get my wife anything. I feel as long as I buy her more things than I get for myself than its ok. But when I spend more on figures than I do on her I feel bad.
