Opening segment with Heyman was good. Puts Joe over nicely.
Between the Heyman promo, the flashback Corporation promo, and the lengthy opening commentary, I feel like the show is off to a slow start.
And.. an opening promo. I feel like these things are really losing their effectiveness because of all the promos being sandwiched together. A little heavy on the promos to start, for sure.
And an AJ Styles promo :/ It looks like I'm about 30% through the show already and still not to the opening match :/ Way too much like TNA for my likings.
The guest commentary role is good. A good way to get angle progression out without more promos.
Opening match, and I feel a bit absurd to have been reading fort his long and to have just gotten to the opening match, was a good one. This would've been a great way to open the show after Heyman's promo and the flashback.. The show felt like it was going very slowly up until this point.
Impact Players are up to some shenanigans..
"Chase" either means the arrival of The Backseat Boys, or it means some combination of Beautiful Bobby Eaton, Sweet Stan Lane, and Loverboy Dennis Condrey are in route to the ring. I'll give Joey a pass that it means the Backseats..
The interesting dynamic about this feud is that all three teams have a female manager. not sure if that was by design or not.
a pretty good three way dance. a nice amount of false finishes. I like that Credible went over, because it makes the champions look strong, without burying any of the challengers because it's a three way singles match. Very good booking on this match.
Little double turn here. The Impact Players essentially turn babyface, by turning on the Corporation, but to immediately follow, the Backseats turn heel(er) by aligning. I almost wonder if Kendrick & London would've been the better fit for this turn, so the Impact Players could be the faces, the Backseats the heels, and the Hooligans the ultra heels that both the heels and faces hate, with the Corporation. almost makes The Backseats the sympathetic heels here, because both teams are obviously going to be gunning for them.
Albert did not show Sydal to the door. I are disappoint.
If DiBiase really wanted to
the Corporation over, he would've made it a double jeopardy match. Loser of the fall loses their titles, Albert & Sydal with no risk.
Ted DiBiase is apparently down with the Brown.
And the debuting D-Lo doesn't have enough to beat Burchill. Burchill is just too dominant. It's going to take someone awesome to beat him, or a whole lot of foul play. Possibly the Corporation turning on him.
And Albert shows Christian and Tomko to the door. He must have it in his contract that his catchphrase can only be used once per show now.
Spot on regal promo, you really nailed his dialog, to the point I could picture him saying it all.
Regal and Tajiri was a good match.. Not sure about it being this high up the card, because it's really a low card feud. Strange positioning for it. I would've ideally put it inside that giant lump of promos at the start of the show, since there's been mostly meat and potatoes matches since then.
And as I say that, there's three straight promos :X
I love how dominant Samoa Joe is. He's the kind of guy ICW could really be based around right now. The Corporation has pretty much run rough shot over everyone in the company, but he wasn't in the company then. And he's pretty much running through everyone put in front of him, which makes him a really credible challenger for the title.
The biggest problem I have with this show is promo overkill. Everyone has something to say, and that's fine, but not everyone needs a lengthy promo. If you really need to squeeze everyone in, do a Cult Fiction montage, ECW style. Do more guest commentary IN PLACE of lengthy promos, because a guest commentator can say everything they need to say and get their angles over, during matches. The show felt light on wrestling, when it really wasn't, but it was so heavy on angles and promos that the wrestling felt over shadowed. that's just my opinion, of course.
