I'm watching The New & Improved DX on Netflix and I remembered that Nicky!!! was a tag team champion. Surely he wasn't known as Dolph Ziggler back then, but he was the same person. I was wondering why he isn't officially recognized as a former tag team champion. WWE.com only lists the following:
Career Highlights: Intercontinental Champion; World Heavyweight Champion; United States Champion
While Nicky was the one who held the tag team title, should it still be listed on Dolph's biography being that they sometimes make reference to him being Nicky from the Spirit Squad? Haven't other personalities been listed as champions under one individual? For example Viscera/Big Daddy V being categorized under the same name...even though that was a more obvious change in character. X-Pac, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash are generally recognized for all of their achievements under prior identities as well.

I guess since Kenny and Mikey were the official winners they don't recognize it? I don't know, this is rather odd considering they were all considered tag champions.

It may be Dolph's preference. Distance himself from it.
Also, I think that he technically may not be officially recognized because, although the Spirit Squad defended them as a group, he wasn't in the match where they officially won the titles.

The real question here, is why they recognize him as a WORLD champion? Lol from mitb winners to Zigglers title win, they are all just so cheap..so so cheap. I miss the days when all world title matches were actual matches.

Yeah exactly, The Spirit Squad as a whole were the champs, and at Saturday Night's Main Event in July, Nicky was wearing the tag team titles during the promo and as they came out.

And I might as well throw this in, R-Truth is recognized as a former Hardcore Champion, though that was during his K-Kwik time.

Cole calls him a former tag champion. Has he? I've grown accustomed to ignoring what Cole says on RAW unless it seems mildly entertaining. I hadn't noticed. I checked WWE.com out of interested and I noticed they hadn't...hm. Perhaps it's just WWE.com's error then.

Because that's why. They want to recognize Dolph Zigger as a completely different character than the Spirit Squad member. That's when they never even mention he was in that. It's the same way they don't refer to Kane as having ever been Isaac Yankem DDS, or Fake Diesel.

Dolph Ziggler is a better performer than that, but I'd kind of want it to be known if I had grown from being THAT monstrosity to the character he is today. He's come along way, and so has Vickie. In my opinion, he's a prime example of WWE building a character correctly, with an incredibly 'over' heel manager and starting him at the lower tier titles first rather than give him the belt right away (ala Sheamus)

Nicky and Ziggler are two different people as far as the WWE is concerned.
I'm sure there'll be a section devoted to it on the Dolph Ziggler 3 Disc DVD one day.

They mention on TV that Ziggler is a former Tag Champ a lot, so I don't know why it's not on his bio, but they certainty don't ignore this fact.

Because Dolph Ziggler's never been tag champion Right Ziggler hasn't but it's been established that Nicky is the same person as Ziggler...and Michael Cole has called him one anyway I guess. Just as R-Truth hasn't been Hardcore Champion but K-Kwik has. So I don't know if that was meant to be an arrogant or "stupid" reply or not, but if it was...it's not necessary.

For the most part it seems like they distance wrestlers different characters while they build the new one, it wouldn't be a smart move right now to come out and remind people he was in the spirit squad, but maybe 10 years down the road when something like that can't hurt what he has going on they can then talk about it. Just like its been so long since Nash was Diesel that it doesn't matter (other than the rumble) but his two characters have basically been merged over the years since they are so similar.

Yeah I've heard Ziggler refer to himself as a tag champ before on t.v. too. Maybe whoever is running the website screwed up, because I do think they recognize him as one.

I honestly think his world title reign should of had been overruled, he beat no one to get it. and with Vickie it was just a cheat.

Hey, when I got his autograph a few years ago he signed it "1/5 of the world tag team champions, NICKY", so he himself said he was a tag champ
