Didn't see this posted, and seeing as SOPA is a big talking point now. -wrestlingnespamource
- List of supporting companies.I'm sure a lot of fans are going to be pissed. I understand why WWE would support the act because of websites that stream and show PPV's. But still. |

WWE supporting it isn't a shock, given all of their content that's on the Internet without their authorization. The part I'm annoyed by is when there's an old PPV on YouTube, and WWE takes down one part of it, but leaves up the other 14 parts. Or when they take down footage of the previous night's PPV as soon as they see it, but a PPV from two-years-ago on the same person's channel is left up forever. They could be doing a better job of taking down stolen content, but for whatever reason, only a small percentage of what's on places like YouTube bothers them enough to get it taken down.

honestly its easy to be pissed, but given the enormous amounts of their copywrighted stuff that is online that they could be making money off of, it makes sense.
what people should be pissed about is that this SOPA crap even exists...not that a company like the WWE supports it

I don't have a problem with them supporting it. They'll lose loads of possible PPV Revenue because of streaming,youtube,torrents etc. So I can see why they are supporting it.

I see why they're supporting it, obviously, but with their love of Twitter and Facebook, it's weird they would support a bill that would shut down those two sites.

It's interesting to me that no one is taking into consideration the number of fans that WWE potentially looks at losing if there is no WWF copyrighted content to be found at places like youtube and daily motion. "Tape trading" takes place now through these outlets and it's how modern day wrestling fans really discover wrestling history.
I have a massive WWE VHS and DVD library, but I am fortunate enough to have a job that supports me buying a new WWE DVD every time one hits the shelf. Plenty of people don't have that luxury but are still fans. I think those people are the most hurt by this personally.
From a business standpoint I get it. Although, I personally think with the WWE Network and potential free PPVs that it shouldn't matter. Additionally, I think there have been surveys that show even if fans watch streaming PPVs, that they would just not watch period if they couldn't watch the stream. In other words, all WWE is doing is taking the PPV away from people who weren't going to buy it anyway. WWE is losing fans, not gaining them, and I don't think taking content off the internet is going to help them build a stronger fan base, just my two cents.

Maybe if WWE didn't charge so much for a PPV, people would actually buy them more. I remember In Your House being $19.95 at one point, I don't mind that as much to be honest.

Reducing the price is not the answer at all. Remember Money in the Bank 2011? Many people bought it, and I'm sure many others ordered replays. Why? Because they actually gave a great show and hyped the main event like they hadn't done in quite some time. Give the fans expectations and actually deliver a good show and they'll buy it no matter what. If, and just if, they want to keep it like they're doing now, I guess that dropping the price is the way to go. |

I don't know why people are saying that it's understandable that WWE is supporting these bills. These bills are despicable. They will not stop piracy; they only harm legitimate websites and those who browse them. We shouldn't just forget that because this is the WWE, and we enjoy the product. If this was a thread about, say, the MPAA, I don't think practically anyone would be sticking up for them, even though they are probably harmed far more by piracy.

People should be more pissed off about this, if that thing passes there's a big chance there would be no WFigs for us to be posting this stuff on.
