I'm hoping and praying this is the year for Dale.. He looked pretty strong last Saturday, and has a fast car for the 500, can't wait!

Am I the only one who feels that the Daytona 500... is more of the "Danica 500" this year? I'm not against women in NASCAR - I'm a fan of Johanna Long for crying out loud - but enough is enough. If Long or Jo Cobb got as much camera time, ass kicking, and general promotion as Danica, they might have sponsorship.
I get it. Danica is a popular driver... but they are setting her up for failure. They are promoting her like she is the second coming when in reality, she has to prove she is as good as a driver, as she is a marketing tool. Lord forbid she win the 500... we won't stop hearing about it.

Cobb, Robinson and any other woman thats raced were never competitive. Most couldnt cut the mustard in the Busch/Nationwide Series and the rest were mediocre in the ARCA series.

Danica is a mediocre, over-hyped driver. She's got one win in the Indy Series, and tears up cars in the Nationwide series.

Danica is a mediocre, over-hyped driver. She's got one win in the Indy Series, and tears up cars in the Nationwide series. she's consistently finished in the top 10 in points every year in IRL except for her rookie season, She's finished in the top 10 at the Indy 500 every year but once, She's got 3 top 10s in Nationwide and she's finished 30th or worse only 9 times and has 9 top 20 finishes....Sorry but I think thats pretty dang good for someone (male or female) that's never been in a car with bumpers on it and is clearly just now learning to race a tank.

Yes, but there are 42 other drivers on the track. That is my issue with it, it is all about Danica this, Danica that, Danica is this, etc. Not the fact that it's the f'n Daytona 500!

Dont get me wrong I completely understand, I think its just more of a ground breaking type thing cause Danica could actually win the 500...Highly doubtful but its not out of the question. She's by far the only woman thats ever had a chance to do this. Even though there have been women in Nascar before, they sucked so this is kinda a ground breaking movement type thing for Nascar. It will eventually die down it just takes time. Id rather listen about Danica though then Junior this and Junior that, I swear if his name was Ernie Irvin Jr and he's competed like he has the past few years, his ass would be back in the Nationwide Series full time.

Ultimately this is setting Danica up to look terrible. She can't compete in the Cup series.

Ultimately this is setting Danica up to look terrible. She can't compete in the Cup series. How many cup races have you seen her compete in? Nobody is expecting her to be the next Richard Petty, the hype is more about her being a female in a male dominated sport then how good/bad she is. Besides, Tony Stewart was hardly impressive in his Nationwide career but once he moved up to Cup, I think he did pretty well for himself....In turn, Junior tore Nationwide series up, moved up to Cup and should change his name to Kyle Petty Jr.

She's popular, of course they're gonna milk the cow as much as possible.
Plus she's hot as hell, which draws guys, and she's a woman, which draws in women. Why not push her?

It's been a wild Speedweeks so far. It seems the Nationwide race surpassed the truck race in the quantity of mayhem, but the Paludo and Coulter crashes from Friday were insane. I really like how two non-cup drivers won; I never even heard of John King before, and Buesher doesn't even have a full ride in Nationwide.
I'd love if someone totally obscure wins the 500. But whatever happens, I'm sure it will be epic.

I really enjoyed the nationwide race today, good racing and some nice wrecks. Can't wait to see whats in store for the 500.

ESPN can kiss my ass. Kyle Busch goes head first into the wall and they didn't even bother to let us know that he was okay. They had no trouble showing a replay or his destroyed car just sitting there without him getting out. 10 seconds to say "Kyle Busch has told his team he is okay", isn't that hard.

I didnt see the race today but maybe they didnt know? If the window net doesnt come down and the radio channel isnt clear they might not know.

Then they shouldn't have shown his car just setting there in a heap of sheetmetal. EDIT: But, the window net did come down because he got into the back of an amublance. They can replay Danica's rant over the radio because of a racing deal, but can't check the radio of Kyle? Guess he's not headline news.

Well if they're showing his car and his window net comes down and you see him get in the back of an ambulance....common sense would say he's ok then. As far as either of us knows they didnt have a signal to Kyles radio or knowing Kyle, he was probably rambling profanities. Either way, It's hardly some conspiracy against Kyle. Not everyone is going to get a 5* treatment after a wreck in every race.

Not everyone is going to get a 5* treatment after a wreck in every race. They didn't show his window net down nor him getting into the ambulance, all that was shown was his car sitting in a heap of sheetmetal and at one point you see an ambulance going away from the car. That doesn't mean he's okay..What does it matter if Kyle was rambling "profanties"? It takes all of ten seconds to say: "Kyle is on his radio with his team, he's okay". Not that hard. The problem isn't someone didn't get a "5 star treatment", it's the fact that Kyle hits the wall head on at 180+ MPH after getting turned, and not a single word as said about him being on the radio with his team, his window net being down, nothing. I'm not the only one who shares this opinion either. Twitter and Facebook blew up asking if he was okay, because they didn't say anything. If you weren't on Twitter or Facebook, you didn't know because they said nothing about it. It's not about five star treatment or spending 20 minutes dweling on it, but in the replay shots or the shots of his car sitting there without anyone checking on him.. 10 seconds is all it would have took. If they have access to Danica's rant (and still air it) they could have found someway to get an update on Kyle. ESPN can still kiss my ass for not having the common sense to say something about Kyle. The worst thing they could have done was say nothing. That simple. Case closed.
