Been a while since I purchase something in store since our distribution here for the better half of the past one and a half years has been almost non existent but luckily I found basic 16 in stores this past week.
Eddie:
This is a very good figure, the legends one was really well done but to me, I've always preferred eddies flames look with the black tights and the gold which this figure has. At first I thought the torso was too big and perhaps its a little oversize but I've grown to like it. The scan is excellent, one of the ones mattel really nailed. Great detail in the tats and attire, the red and gold looks really nice.
Undertaker:
Wasnt sold on this originally but after seeing pics and eventually seeing it in store, I had to. No pun intended, its a phenomenal scan. Im glad they finally did a decent job on takers widow peak which is one of his most defining features (well maybe not anymore if he is bald). The scan looks like a more detailed and fiercer expression than his original basic scan. Its fantastic and the moulded pants look great too. Obviously its a great base for a deadman inc custom but Im happy to keep it like this. Its definitely the best in the alongside eddie in my view. No colour in the tats but still has the same detail we've come to expect.
Swagger:
This is probably going to be the most 'borderline' in the set. Ive never owned a swagger before, jakks efforts were decent but the scan seemed to large and chubby with an awkward look to it. Mattels first basic scan had a good expression but looked too cartoony and the hair was wrong. The elite was too serious and didnt have a great likeness. In my view this is the best swagger head to date. Is it perfect? Short answer is no. But its the closest anyone has gotten so far. Theres definitely a likeness there, theres just a little something thats off, swagger is clearly a hard guy to capture in fig form it seems. The attire however is excellent and one of the main reasons I purchased it. Its more up to date and more exciting than most previous attires, even has blue lining on the side. One thing that bugs me about the torso though is the back of the singlet, its far too wide compared to what swagger wears. The head can seem a tad on the small side but honestly, its probably proportionally correct but the problem mattel has yet to fix is his height. Swagger is deceptively a really tall guy and all of his figures have seemed to fall short. For swaggers next figure, mattel really need to sort out how they can increase his height because its not close enough yet. This is the main flaw on what is otherwise actually a really solid figure. Some may question the scan but its definitely closer to how he looks than has been done before.
Hopefully I can soon find the sig series, b15 and new rumblers (e.g. cara) that have been spotted here.
Thanks for lookin'
