Hey guys I will be booking a high profile wrestling event in the near future. I was wondering whether fans prefer to see kick pads or boots during the matches. I only want to do one or the other to keep a consistant theme and not confuse the audience.

I think kickpads give an edgy, indy, and high flying feel. I would say boots give a hardcore, more to the point feel. To me, I love kickpads on superstars. I mean, could you see Daniel Bryan wearing boots or big show wearing kickpads? Exactly my point.

Bryan only started wearing kickpads in 08 so I actually could cause ive seen it but i get your point lol. And I dont prefer one or the other but I give an edge to kick pads simply because of their look and when guys impliment them into their moveset like Bryan, Davey Richards, KENTA, and Punk it can add to a move. I always loved the sound that the pad makes when someone kicks someone properly with the pads. And pretty much everyone is wearing them now-a-days so its kind of the "it" thing guess.

Why can you select 2 answers, if your asking which one? Anyway kick pads spice up the attire up, and make it more unique. Boots, as normally all the same. But like others I think a mix is fine and unless your audience is 5 year olds they shouldn't be confused.

Boots look more professional (if you go all out and buy a decent $400-$500 pair) but they're a hassle to lace up and unlace and they're heavier. Kickpads can look cool if you have someone make you a custom set instead of buying them from a karate shop or something. They're easier to use and lighter so you can jump higher and be quicker.
I don't think most fans care either way, as long as they look cool.

I just reread the original post and now I'm a little confused. Are you booked to wrestle on the event or you are booking the entire event? I wouldn't limit every guy on the roster to just kickpads or just boots. Most smaller guy use kickpads and most bigger guys wear boots.

well, since your a REAL championship wrestling bookee, i think all the wrestlers have to wrestle in street clothes and sneakers to give it that REAL feel.

I think the Boots vs Kickpad thing is so intellectually- disabled. There are some people in my area that get on Facebook and bitch and moan how bad Kickpads are. I say the look is only one part. I know guys I work shows with that have all the best gear but couldnt wrestle if their lives depended on it. They got booked cause they had gear. Then I have seen guys and gals that have little gear and they go out there and put on amazing matches.

And lets face it....gear is a good investment. So if you have a guy who is really good in the ring....he should put some effort and money towards some gear. Wrestling requires sacrafices.

I hate kickpads. So sick of seeing them everywhere these days. Adam Cole, O'Reiley are my main examples. I couldn't take them seriously for months because all I saw was CM Punk wanna-bes.

I still think it's funny that people hating on kickpads are guys that have never worn shoes with kickpads or laced up a pair of boots.

How do either of those guys look like CM Punk wanna-bes? Cole looks like an oldschool wrestler with simple trunks and boots and O'Riley wears gear similar to Punk but half the workers in the world have that look now. Not to mention that neither wrestles ANYTHING like Punk. We're all entitled to our own opinion but IMO yours makes no sense what so ever.

Kawada wore kickpads. I'm pretty sure that fact destroys a lot of the negative things people say about them.

Thanks for the input, guys. I've decided I'm going to have the wrestlers with kick pads fued with the wrestlers who wear boots. It will be a faction warfare type deal.

Then after that, you should do the guys with long tights vs. the guys with trunks.
