This topic is really sounding like a broken record, but it seems like change is finally coming to the WWE Championship.
A member of a wrestling belt forum that I'm also a part of, who is an employee of the WWE Art department (proven to be true as well) and is in charge of designing all the graphic packages for the TV shows and PPV events, posted this over the weekend:
No date has been given on when it may debut, but it is very likely that it can debut if CM Punk remains champion going into the Extreme Rules PPV next month in his hometown of Chicago.

Seems like great news, but then I stop and think about how I basically hate the last two (not including the classic IC Title return) title design WWE has introduced in the last several years: the Tag Title pennies and Diva butterfly belt.

Fantastic news about the new belt. Its needed to change. They really can't make an uglier belt than the Tag Belts and the Divas belt.
Punk should remain champion to introduce it. He was the one vocal of the change. Can you imagine "Remember a long time ago I was going to facilitate change? One of the things I wanted to change was the hideous spinner belt, and it took time but I got it done". Then out of a bag comes a new belt

Even though I don't watch anymore, I absolutely HATED the "Cena Spinner" belt. It was ugly as hell and looked like a joke. It looked ridiculous. It's like all the wrestlers that were busting their ass to obtain the WWE title and they have THAT to show for it...Come on....Make it look like it's got SOME meaning and actually worth winning..Lol..
I hope the creator of the new WWE title is Reggie Parks, who if you guys don't know, is the creator of the classic belts like WWF Intercontinental, WWF Winged Eagle and classic WWF Tag-Team. Man, those belts are all awesome.
If they brought back the classic Intercontinental, then I can see them bringing back the classic Winged Eagle, slightly modified with new WWE logos, of course.

Cool, I would love to see Punk unveil it at Extreme Rules then lose it the same night to Jericho!

Yeah that's true, the last few belts have sucked.
WWE Spinner Big Silver ECW Belt Butterfly Diva Belt Trojan Condom Tag Team Belts
What if the new WWE Title sucks even more? I wish they would just bring back the Classic Winged Eagle. The design has so much history and it just LOOKS important. A crappy belt can make a Champion not look as credible if the design is just ridiculous.
Big Eagle or Winged Eagle would be my choice, not really because I'm a nostalgia mark, but just because WWE's last few attempts at new belts have sucked ass and I have no faith that they can actually come up with a good looking design for a new belt, so it's probably best to go back to designs we all know already worked.

If they brought back a slightly modified Winged Eagle belt for the WWE Title, I'd be doing backflips in my backyard!

Everyone seems to be forgetting another horrible belt they produced over the last few years - the silver ECW Title. That thing was hideous. One belt I hope they never change is the World Heavyweight Title. It's so classic, well-known, and perfect just the way it is.

People only hate the Spinner belt when it's brought up that it could be changing. Nobody mentions it otherwise. I personally don't care for a belt change because at the end of the day, it'll do nothing to the product.

The last 3 belts WWE has designed, The ECW title, The Divas title and the Tag Team titles have been absolutely hideous designs. I really do have low expectations for the next WWE title.

It's very likely that the new title might be being made by Reggie Parks' partner, Dave Millican (who has made the Penny Tag Titles & the last 2 iterations of the Intercontinental Title (Attitude version and the current "retrofied" IC that's on TV now, along with the World Heavyweight Championship that was briefly on TV when Orton was champ; now it's been relegated to being the House Show belt). He has been WWE's go to guy recently, so here's hoping that he's been chosen to make the new strap. I wouldn't hold my breath on it being a WWE-logoed Winged Eagle though. The WWE employee made mention that he believes that the majority will be happy with the new championship they designed. He has been a member of that board for quite a while now and has been checking out feedback of any topic relating to the WWE belts, so he may have (hopefully) incorporated that into the new WWE Championship.

^ Well, everyone seems to like the "Retrovised" WWE Intercontinental title they have now, so I REALLY hope Millican goes the same route with the new design for the next WWE title.
On another note, I would LOVE to see CM Punk do to Cena's "Spinner" belt what Mr. Perfect did to Hogan's Winged Eagle belt....

Why do people hate the Spinner belt so much? Personally I like it and don't see anything wrong with it.

I don't mind the belt honestly. Chances are we will get a horrible looking design and everyone will still complain so it's a no win situation.

I have no problem with the Spinner (own a replica of it). I personally just want to see an evolution of the title. The Spinner's got the second longest span of being the WWE Championship (only behind the Winged Eagle). I just think a new design is due already. I'm hoping that the new belt doesn't disappoint.

The wrestlers seem to want a new one too, so it's not just the fans. I remember that Cena interview that was recently posted on here which he said the belt weighs too much, also.
It's time for a change.

The Spinner's got the second longest span of being the WWE Championship (only behind the Winged Eagle). I'm sorry, but it would help if you knew your FACTS. There's a reason I gave myself the nickname of Mr. Old School and that's to know the facts about old-school wrestling. The Spinner does NOT have the 2nd longest span of being WWE championship. That would, in fact, be the WWWF Heavyweight title that greats like Bruno Sammartino, and "Superstar" Billy Graham once held and it's pictured here: That belt lasted from 1973-1982, thus, making it the 2nd longest span for WWE championship as it is now known today. The longest would be the WWF Winged Eagle: That one lasted from 1988-1998 when Stone Cold Steve Austin retired it after beating Shawn Michaels for it at WrestleMania XIV. Cena's "Spinner" WWE title has lasted from April 11th, 2005-current day, although since No Mercy 2007, the centerpiece WWE logo no longer spins. The current WWE title would be the 3rd, not 2nd, longest championship title span. I just wanted to get the facts clear, that's all. I was personally NEVER a fan of the current WWE belt design because I thought it looked ridiculous. Just a horrible, ugly design. I cannot wait to see what the next design is. I'm very much looking forward to it.
