Recently my friend and I played through the old Earthbound on SNES, yes I mean we dusted off an old Super Nintendo with cartridge, and I had forgotten just how immensly fun and witty it is. Has anybody else played it recently or just in general and what did you think about it?

I loved it! Could never beat the final boss though. Didnt they make a sequal on gameboy or something?

One of my favorite SNES games. The dialogue was unlike any other game at that time. Very generic-styled RPG but it was still great. Very addictive game. Nothing like beating up hippies, cranky old men, taking LSD in a coffee shop and going to alternate universes.
In Japan, the series is called 'Mother' and technically Earthbound (SNES) is the 2nd game.
Mother 1 was fan-translated to English and is called Earthbound Zero in America. I have it downloaded and am currently playing it.
We were promised Mother 3 for GameBoy Advance but it never happened. Japan got it. But a dedicated team of hardcore Earthbound fans recently translated that too, and you can find it online. The American version is still called 'Mother 3', but it should really be called 'Earthbound 2'.
I really wish they would have gone through with Earthbound 64. That's something that was just scrapped altogether. There's footage of the game in development somewhere out there.

I've been searching high and low for this game recently.
Apparently my friend found it for $4 at a pawn shop.
Cheapest I can find it for is $150.

Ha, I just happened to click on this forum and saw this. I'm currently looking for a copy of this game, but yeah, eBay is pretty much the only option for me since there's no places for old game around me.

I just got an Earthbound Uncut repro for $60 and I'm having a blast with it. Such a quirky game, really happy to finally have it.

I did on release date. But also found a copy at a pawn shop for $5. So pretty stoked about that.
