Bandy,
Bundy was the first real monster heel to take Hogan out. Hogan was a pretty big dude then and for anyone to really make him feel some pain was a big deal for the time. He'd bruised/broken Hogan's ribs so this was the first major injury for The Hulkster and there was some doubt (at least during my recess) if he could keep the belt at Wrestlemania.
Bundy was also a major player in the best/second/third Hogan friend turn angle as he and Big John Studd were fighting Hogan and Paul Orndorff when Orndorff turned on Hogan. That was a pretty big deal and probably was only eclipsed by Savage and Andre.
Bundy also was in the first Survivor Series looking to get some Heenan Family revenge against Hogan and the re-turned Orndorff. He came back to the WWF in the mid-90s as part of DiBiase's Million Dollar Corp, which led to a match against Undertaker so from a collection standpoint you could match him up against:
-Orndorff -Bam Bam Bigelow -George "The Animal" Steele -Bret "Hitman" Hart - RSC edition/two-tone fix-ups -EG Undertaker
If that helps to sell you on him. ;-)

Im not giving up yet nivro, i suppose one new legend per month isnt all bad but its a little boring. Bandy, i dont know if i could sell you on bundy myself, i never really seen him wrestle much as a kid. I remember having his LJN and my dad must have been a bundy fan cuz i was told he was "the bad guy" so he faced off against my hogan often, not too mention having 'king kong' in your name makes you pretty bad ass.
I only really remember him facing off against hogan and being a part of the million dollar stable, regardless bundys My top pick of the 5 legends 'we' voted for. So far from the pics we've seen I think he looks great

I used to like watching studd/ bundy as a team. Especially when they would face the bulldogs.

we will like to se the list for refences ?? Ok I can do that :-) ok here is the list. It is not in perfect order because I don't remember exactly what order they all came out but Bundy will be the 48th Legend/flashback figure released. This only counts different wrestlers not duplicates. For example Kerry Von Erich only counts once in legends series 6. MATTEL LEGENDS SERIES 1 1. Steve Austin 2. Hawk 3. Animal 4. Ricky Steamboat 5. Dusty Rhodes 6. Sgt Slaughter 7. Rick Rude Series 2 8. Jimmy Snuka 9. Iron Sheik 10. Terry Funk 11. Jake Roberts 12. Kamala 13. The Rock Series 3 14. Mr Perfect 15. Jim Duggan 16. Vader 17. Brian Pillman 18. British Bulldog 19. Ax Series 4 20. Smash 21. Warrior 22. Paul Orndorff 23. Hillbilly Jim 24. George Steele 25. Randy Savage Series 5 26. Bam Bam Bigelow 27. Akeem 28. Rick Martel 29. Eddie Guerrero series 6 30. Kerry Von Erich 31. Kevin Von Erich 32. Nikolai Volkoff 2pack 1 33. Roddy Piper 34. Bob Orton 35. Luke 36. Butch 37. Kane flashback 38. Papa Shango flashback 39. Rocker Marty 40. Rocker Shawn 41. Edge Flashback 42. Big Boss Man Flashback 43. Booker T Flashback 44. Andre The Giant 45. Bret Hart Flashback 46. Yokozuna Flashback 47. DDP coming soon number 48!! 48. Bundy coming 5/21 I think you should consider adding Undertaker to the list because he was a SDCC exclusive and he was in Defining Moments which were both released in elite form. They were also released before the legends series ended. So basing it on your requirement he should be in your count

Appreciate the sell on Bundy there JKLMD2002 and Apoc. I have seen clips of his run in World Class when he was leaner and meaner against Fritz's boys, but being an NWA fan I followed WWF on the peripheral.
Thanks for reminding me about all those famous Hogan-best-friend-turns, Orndorff, Savage, Andre, Tugboat ~ Hogan was such a sap (kayfabe) no wonder I liked Ric Flair more lol.
There's no doubt Mattel does big fat guys really really well, so I know the figure is a win - hell I've back-ordered Yokozuna and I'm not even a big fan, but I do know an excellent toy when I see one!
I might order King Kong Bundy afterall and hope we get a Big John Studd down the road as a Flashback.
PS why am I all of a sudden thinking about boobs?

Si4life- Yes I was on the fence about undertaker because he was not in elite flashback or legend packaging. We all know that one is coming eventually(probably as an elite flashback) so I figured I would just add Undertaker when he is put in an elite series as a flashback same with HHH. I just stuck with elite and legend packing as legends because the elite flashback packing came when the legends line failed. There is a lot of grey area with this so I tried to keep it simple with the flashback and legend packaging only.

YOUR LIST IS FLAWED..

the sad part is the only new Legends we got in 2012 that we didnt have before are Andre, Boss Man, Booker T , DDP and yokozuna and were going into the 5th month of the year.......... Interest is fading fast for me, I skipped booker and ddp so i only got 3 new legends this year Basic Heritage Hitman Hart, HBK, Goldust, Ultimate Warrior, Eddie Guerrero and the RSC Legends Bret hart and Savage. Cant just count elites....

qdogg - the legend line is elite so any basics are out as they were not part of the legend line. The legend line morphed into elite flashbacks. All the other series are not part of the legend line.
I am only counting elite flashback and legend packaging.

thats what i dont like about the list...I could care less about packaging. Really Legends should only b the actual legends series and Legends 2packs....RSC Macho...Matty rockers, andre and DDP
I dont see how the Flashbacks factor in......packaging wise. They are just standard elite boxes.
A real list for me would include Heritage figs, Defining Moments etc......a "Classics" list as it were. Figures that would be in Jakks Classic Superstars line if it was still in production
we've hijacked this topic btw

Well thats great that YOUR only counting elite flashback and Legends packaging. Your not the end all say all when it comes to how many legends figures there are. Defining Moments figures are basically Elite Flashback or Legends Figures and out of the package look exactly the same. And nowhere does it say on any flashback figure carding that this is a continuation of the legends line, hence the name "flashback". This is a new concept. These are just a way to incorporate some popular past characters into the line.

EGs, Heritage or any other basic should not be on the list. I think Defining Moments should though....personally.
Apocalypse: imagine what 2013 will be like if The Legend line dies :-(

I have to say, I can buy your reasons for counting the list the way you do. It's a travesty that Million Dollar Man is an EG basic figure, but that's the deal - Legends were always supposed to be Elites and therefore Flashbacks fit the criteria. Now I need somebody to sell me on the idea of Bundy. I wasn't going to buy DDP until i saw Dean's photoshop and now I'm expecting my DDP in a few weeks. Bundy never stood out to me - he was great in World Class but for big men of that era I preferred the one man gang. Don't really recall the hype build up to WM2. So why should I buy Bundy? Its very easy to sell my friend. Without King Kong Bundy, we would have never gotten this man.....

My memory of Bundy was of him squashing a midget with a big splash during a wrestlemania 3 match. I always wished that Bundy had stuck around longer, he could of been a monster heel during the early 90s. Guess he was doing TV Work. I know he eventually came back and was part of the million dollar corp and feuded with Taker at Mania 11, (god awful mania, one of the worst along with 9) thats also where I remember him from.

to each their own. I only consider mattel legends if they are in legend packaging or elite flashback packaging which their are 47 right now out.
Qdogg- it is just my list I am not trying to be the end all. I count flashback because they came out when legends failed. Undertaker and triple H will probably be flashbacks eventually anyway and then I will count them. Not saying I am right or wrong it is just my way.
Bundy squashing a midget was hilarious back at WM3. One of my favorite moments!

Your list is great. The "Legends" line morped into the "Flashback Elites" in 2012 so those should be counted as "Legends". It's really simple to understand.
As for the EG, Heritage series, and the Defining Moments. Yeah, those carried some Legend characters, but by no means should those be classified in the same category as the "Legends" line. Let me ask you guys this, would you consider the "Legends" line as part of the "Defining Moments" line? No, so why should it be the other way around?
All of the basic style figures that are legends could have their own seperate category for legends basic style. Every figure released in the "Heritage" line is technically a "Flashback" or "Legend" in the basic form.
This would be my "Legends/Flashback Basic" list:
1. John Cena 2. Undertaker 3. Batista 4. Steve Austin 5. Edge 6. Randy Orton 7. Melina 8. Kane 9. HHH 10. CM Punk 11. Jack Swagger 12. Shawn Michaels 13. Bret Hart 14. Goldust 15. Sheamus 16. Christian 17. The Rock 18. Ultimate Warrior 19. Bigshow 20. Eddie Guerrero 21. Rey Mysterio 22. Great Khali 23. Chris Masters 24. Chris Jericho 25. Million Dollar Man 26. Roddy Piper 27. John Morrison 28. Alberto Del Rio 29. Evan Bourne
I'm probably missing some, but that is a start. All of those figures I guess I wouldn't count as a legend, but they are certainly all flashbacks. Everyone on this list was released in a certain attire that "Flashbacks" to a certain event. Some new, some old.
Also, this list doesn't include some of the earlier "PPV" sets. It probably could, but then you get in that gray area again. Characters like Beth Phoenix and Cody Rhodes could be added to this list as well, because they were based off a certain attire worn during a certain event, but at the time of the figure released, it was a flashback. It was just based off a recent ppv.

Yes Jr Jumpshot the defining moments are another series in my opinion. This is all open to interpretation but I just look at what mattel calls legends and what they became when the line failed to keep it simple as possible.
