So I'm not going to be watching this event, but it's great to see Lombard in the UFC, hope he looks good in his debut, he's been beastly over the past few years but this is a definite step up in competition.

That was such a cool submission. Starting from a standing position.. It was like a prowrestling move

To be fair, Lombard is still a talented fighter. Same with Shields and Miller. It's not their fault that crazed fans like get a bit overzealous when praising them. To go against the grain and act like all they are is mediocre, or that their past success is nothing more than inflated fables created by the fans, is a discredit to them and the guys that "derailed" them in the UFC.
Anyways, I was worried about Lombard since his last Bellator appearance against Prangley. It sounds like he did tonight what he did then. Just stood still, barely fighting, waiting for something to come his way. I didn't know then if that was an isolated "strategy" for this one opponent, or something he intended to employ often in his future fights. Seems like it may have been the latter.
Hopefully Lombard gets a shot to at least try and redeem himself. And hopefully it's at 170. Otherwise he could be a swift 2 and out in the UFC if he doesn't bring the thunder in his next fight.

I've been saying forever, Lombard is not the killer everyone thinks he is. If I was a douche I would go back and quote myself, but I'm not. I was hoping he's win impressively to prove me wrong. I don't want to see the guy fail. I'd love for him to earn the credit he gets from certain Internet fans. I just haven't seen it, and we sure as hell didn't see it tonight.
Congrats to Jimmo, Riddle, and Barrao.
Nick Ring didn't beat McGhee.

Sounds like I didn't miss much by not ordering this PPV. Apparently Lombard sucked it up, sounded like he was conservative and it made for a boring fight. Also sounded like Barao was too classy for Faber. Hopefully they stop giving Faber title matches and stop trying to force him on us as the face of the lighter weight classes, guy just isn't world champ material.

Faber was the best once upon a time, but time goes on and the talent pool gets bigger, better and guys get more exposure. And that's what's happened...

The problem I see with Faber is that he doesnt try to do anything new. He just stands there trying to strike against guys that are better then him on the feet. I think he needs to start using his wrestling more.
