I was out for a walk this evening, where I do most of my creative thinking, and I came up with the following idea.
What if, WWE offered a deal where anyone who attended a PPV live, has the option to get the DVD/BluRay of that event for free? Like, if they sent in proof that they bought tickets to that specific event?
The idea hit me when I was reflecting on how I pre-ordered the WM 28 DVD the day before the show. Since I was attending live, I knew I wanted the DVD to watch again from the broadcast prospective. So, I figured if WWE offered such a deal for live PPV attendees, that'd be cool.
What do you think?

It's a good idea in theory, but wouldn't it just end up raising the price of tickets, thus basically defeating the purpose?

For free? No way they are giving away 10-15,000 DVDs for a regular PPV and not to mention a Wrestlemania DVD where it would be in the 50,000+ range, without raising the ticket prices. Maybe if you send them your ticket stub(which personally I would rather have) and like $5 or something I could see it happening but definitely not for free.

I would love for them to give the option of owning RAW/SmackDown and house shows on DVD if you attend the event. They likely wouldn't do it for free, maybe in the $10-15 range/

It would be a dumb business decision to ever do that. Not sure on prices in America but when you give away 10k DVDs for a normal PPV at what is around £20 a Blu-Ray here, They'd be losing a insane amount of money through the year.

That means that potentially they'd give away 78,000 free blu rays of WrestleMania 28. Would never happen.

Maybe a discount, that could work? I think it would increase the sales

Maybe making a DVD available for purchase of a house show afterwards for $5 or $10...

Of course it would be nice, but they'd lose a ton of money.

LOL... Well, maybe I didn't think that through. I was just remembering the little premiums you'd get (keychains, etc...) when you'd send in your cable bill as proof-of-purchase of a PPV.

Not only are they going to lose money from giving away free DVDs, they are going to lose profits from those people at the event who would've bought the DVD when released.

I could see maybe a discount. Like maybe when they walk in they are given a coupon for somewhere between 10%-25% off of a DVD or Blu-Ray from the show. If they do the coupon they could have different codes on every coupon and set expiration dates so the codes wouldn't leak online causing everyone to use the code.

Nah, because take Chicago for instance.. we just got Extreme Rules.
WWE is banking on the idea that Extreme Rules will sell better in the surrounding Chicago area than anywhere else because 15,000 people attended and would probably want it on DVD. Take away the hometown market and that will put a huge dent in the sales.
If somethings in demand, you put a price on it. Thats what VKM lives for.
Now TV tapings and House Shows, thats entirely different. I totally believe Raw's Smackdown's and House Shows should be available for purchase.

Make them downloadable online, with discount vouchers given at the shows

I would think paying $70 for the PPV would entitle you to a download/DVD more than going to a show live. DVD would cost way more though, so the download seems very reasonable.

Make them downloadable online, with discount vouchers given at the shows Now this is a brilliant and workable idea. Give them a code to download it online for maybe $10 for live shows. NOT ppvs.

They won't do that, they'll know that those 15000 or so DVDs are pretty much GAURANTEED sales, everyone will want to own an event that they attended live.

Make them downloadable online, with discount vouchers given at the shows I would say this but only for certain matches not whole events. WWE could give you a match or two online for attending and not lose anything. Bands do this all the time, you go to the show and can get a free recording of it often that same night.
