Kind of reminds me of Shelton Benjamin, except that Benjamin was a way better in-ring performer. He had some wins over Triple H and a very good first IC title reign, then it just seemed that he would go nowhere no matter what title he won, and would only be remembered by many because of his MITB spots. This. he just isn't a main event talent. He has hit his peak. He's not the type of guy someone's gonna pay money to see. He's a perennial "best friend mid-card" guy that comes to save the cena/punk types.

He's okay, good moves, crowd likes him, but you're right, gets titles, does nothing with them in terms of elevating status....Some more mic time and the ability to let people connect with him more, I guess.

Just wondering, what does everyone think of Kofi Kingston in recent times? To me it always seems like he has constant meangingless reigns with either the IC, US or tag titles and really doesnt have much going on in terms of storyline or what he has to offer outside his usual solid in ring performances. It just seems like he is always carrying some title in a reign that goes nowhere and he seems pretty unnoticed and doesnt stand out even with a belt on his shoulder. Hate to go back and bring it up but since the orton storyline, he hasnt done too much noteworthy other than some cool spots in matches (particularly MITB) other than uneventful title reigns. It just seems like he's just there in the background and always holding a title and never going anywhere. Not sure what it is but perhaps they just dont have anything or care enough particularly since Air Boom disintegrated because of Bourne. He's been my favorite wrestler since HBK retired. He does things in the ring that no one else on the roster can do. He's a jaw-dropping athlete. The problem is that WWE hasn't made him a priority since the Orton debacle. Like so many other guys on the roster, they have given zero time to character development and his mic time is non-existent. He's done some hilarious promo segments, but they are always relegated to WWE.com.

I adored his feud with Randy Orton and I was really hoping that this was Kofi's time to take off and be a big star, but it just never happened. Having personally met the guy, I've always been a fan, ever since his debut on ECW. I still think he has a bright future, he'll be a WWE mainstay for years to come, even if he just remains as a mid-card floater/transitional Champion.

I usually hate when people just say "Oh, they suck as a face, turn them heel," but in this case I really think that's what Kofi needs. I mean am I the only one that feels heel Kofi could be amazing? Yes you are. Lmao After a day i had that just made me bust out

I'm a big Kofi fan. I enjoy his ring work and don't think he's that bad on the mic. Granted, he's not great on the mic, but he's at least not one of those guys that when he's got a mic in his hand you know its gonna be a train wreck.
I, like everyone else, thought that the Orton feud was going to be Kofi's breakout moment. And I think it should have been, it was a really good feud and was cool to see Orton working with an up and comer to help get him over. I remember the big table spot on Raw, and the Survivor Series where Kofi pinned Punk and Orton both back to back.
I agree with most on here though, there's something missing with him. But I don't think its 100% his fault, I think alot of it is what creative does with him. I think if they had kept going with him after the Orton feud he would have really taken off, but for some reason they dropped him back down.
Air Boom was a good idea, because Kofi and Evan could have really helped revive the tag division, but then creative kinda lost interest and then Evan screwed everything up. I'm not as interested with Kofi/Truth.
I think a good feud with someone like Jericho could help give Kofi a boost.

Kofi Kingston gets many title reigns because Michael Hayes is a bad man.

I always thought Kofi was pretty lame, but then when he was given the ball against Orton, he really changed my mind. I think it would be great to see him be a main event face with some dramatic story lines...

At this point, Kofi has been so neutered that I cannot see him winning a world championship without the aid of the Money in the Bank. It's been years since we saw a true face with the Money in the Bank contract (Daniel Bryan doesn't count), so I think it'd be refreshing to see what Kofi would do with the briefcase.

I think he's good in the ring and he can talk on the mic. He was awesome during the feud with Orton and I like that he is featured regularly on television. Solid mid card worker that deserves a good push again. Kofi puts on good matches most of the time and I think getting rid of him or under utilizing him is a big mistake on WWE's part.

He'll do with the MITB briefcase exactly what he does with any title he holds, devalue it.

Great mid card talent. I remember when that used to be enough. Kofi is one of the problems I have with modern day creative though. I would love to see him get a chance to sink or swim in terms of character. I actually don't feel like I know if Kofi can succeed on the mic or not. Give mid card guys some substance and then maybe you can find new stars to elevate.

Bar that debate, he probably hasn't had significant mic time in about 3 title reigns.
That's worrying..

I was just having this conversation last night while watching OTL with some friends. It's such a shame his mic skills/character doesn't reflect his talent in the ring.

Well, I can guarantee he'll never be KOTR. Think about that one for a second:

I like Kofi. He's pretty decent in the ring and most of his title wins seem to just be random, never any real purpose to them.
However, that seems to happen with quite alot of wrestlers and their title wins. Not just Kofi.
