I'm sure it will show up on Big Bad. They usually post a ton of preorders a few weeks after toy shows.

Hey guys, i want to start a little TMNT collection. Had a bunch of the turtles as a kid and loved the cartoon. There seems to be so many lines out there at various price ranges. Seems as if there’s a couple different “classic collection” series. I’d like to collect 7inch or under, true to the cartoon and something that’s not gonna break the bank. So what would you recommend?

You're picking like the worst time. There is nothing currently in stores. Everything would be secondary prices. I bought the giant NECA Turtles and consider it to be the best TMNT purchases I've ever made. I'd previously bought original 80's - 90's stuff. The 6 inch classic and movie figures from a few years ago, and for some reason I bought almost every figure from the Nick cartoon....but it all pales to the giant 1/4 scale NECA Turtles from the 1990 movie. If you have the money and the space, I'd get those....there's just nothing else out there as accurate. Accuracy is key for me, and all of the smaller figures have liberties taken with their accuracy. Nothing else is 100% true to what it actually was.

They really look exactly like the movie. If you had to downgrade to a smaller size, what would you get?

I would suggest hitting Barnes and Noble and getting the Figuarts Turtles. B&N marked them down at the first of the year, I think they are about 1/2 price of what they were originally. Really great figures based on the classic cartoon.

Anybody ever find out more info as to why the 1/6 scale license for the movie turtles doesn't belong to anyone? Is it really just Playmates with the stranglehold on them? Have they ever spoken about it publicly?

Anybody ever find out more info as to why the 1/6 scale license for the movie turtles doesn't belong to anyone? Is it really just Playmates with the stranglehold on them? Have they ever spoken about it publicly? I think they said that it's contractual. Playmates has the rights to TMNT in 6 inch scale at retail. Any 6 inch figures made by other companies needs to be an online only/convention exclusive. It can't be a mass retail distribution. As much as I would be interested in 6 inch scale movie figures....after having the 1/4 NECA ones for a while now....I don't think that much detail could be squeezed into the smaller scale. The shading on the skin, the detail on the eyes, the shell....even something like the yellowing and dirt on the finger and toe nails....It's just not going to be as impressive. I'd probably still buy 6 inch movie figures....but the 1/4 scale NECA ones are my holy grail of TMNT. If they go ahead with the planned movie Shredder, I'll get that in a heartbeat as well.
