Attitude/Monday night wars era put wrestling back on the map. While the pg era has good talent and some matches. You ask anybody over 25 and they can mention one thing about the attitude era. And mostly nothing about the pg era aside from John Cena.
And the PG era does suck somewhat
Santino as US champ Brodus Clays gimmick Cenas kid friendly gimmick(Bring back the prototype) No great hardcore matches ANd Hornswoggle

This so calling "PG Era" is complete garbage. I'm sick of immature storylines made for some 4 year old. Where are the good storylines from the attitude era? I've seen many matches from the attitude era and the wrestling seems better too along with the acting. In the "PG Era" nobody can bleed which means anyone can't bleed at any time but the realism is interesting because it's REAL. That is why fans relate to people like New Jack,John Zidnag, etc. because they feel reallly and like a hardcore person not a stupid cartoon character. All the character feel like cartoon character but in the Attitude Era there were none cartoon character and everyone had something important to work. I believe that if the WWE (WWF) were still using the Attitude wrestling would be much better. For example John Cena. For all the Attitude Era extremists, you do realize that it was a G-RATED PRODUCT in the 1980s that launched the WWF at the time into the mainstream public due to their partnership with MTV and got people interested in the product? There is a reason why nearly 30 years later that casual fans and fans who may have stopped watching all together still remember guys from the Golden Age of the WWF like Outback Jack/Corporal Kirchner/Hillbilly Jim/Kamala/SD Jones/Young Stallions and only die hard fans remember Attitude Era guys like Brakkus/Kurrgan/Marc Mero/Mideon/Headbangers. Yes, the Attitude Era gave wrestling fans great stuff but let's not make the Attitude Era be the "end all, be all" of professional wrestling. Some Attitude Era extremists hedge their posts with certain good things {such as Austin/McMahon feud} and neglect the negative aspects of the Attitude Era such as the cursing, the sex, and setting the entertainment bar at a RIDICULOUS height. Allow me to elaborate... how many times during the Attitude Era did certain things make you embarrassed to be a fan of professional wrestling or cringe and turn red when someone would come in when you were watching? From Mae Young giving birth to a hand, women getting beat up, Val Venis getting near castrated, Mark Henry getting oral sex from a transvestite, the Godfather's Ho's, Terri Runnels having a MISCARRIAGE {That right that there was an all-time low, especially if you have family members that have gone through the pain of having a miscarriage}. Let's not forget the lost art of cutting a promo as every wrestler started using curse words {and in some cases, every other word was a curse word}. Cutting a promo is a craft that one has to practice and hone in order to effective and successful. At least with a PG era, you don't have to sit there and cringe when someone walks into the room and sees you're watching WWE programming. Now lets get into the entertainment bar aspect... That bar got set so high that fans would chant "boring" unless a table or weapon were brought into the match. Or better yet, how about when those "fans" bashed on Rikishi for what they called a "tame" bump off the top of the Cell in the 6-man Armageddon HIAC match. Based on their bashing, you would almost think that certain fans wanted him to take that insane bump straight to the arena floor and come near to death. Furthermore, how can you say with a straight face that matches in the Attitude Era were better than what you've got today in the PG Era? Those same fans complained the whole Attitude Era that matches were TOO SHORT and that WCW had the better WRESTLING. Fast forward to now where WWE is putting an EMPHASIS on the wrestling product with longer matches on TV and PPV and yet those fans now complain that the Attitude Era had better matches? Let's call a spade a spade... WCW blew WWF away in the wrestling department. The only reason WWF got its viewers back was because they adopted the "Jerry Springer" trash tv format. In fact, one episode of Raw during the Attitude Era had 15 minutes or less of actual WRESTLING. Just think for a second... Due to the fact the WWF never beat WCW straight up in the wrestling department, what if Time Warner {the parent company to WCW} had allowed WCW to have their own "Attitude Era" and go the route of having the Trash TV product that Vince adopted? I'll grant you the Attitude Era had more INTENSITY in their matches {such as Austin/Rock at WM17} but when you sit back and look at all the matches OVERALL, PG era match quality wise edges out the Attitude Era. You may not like the outcome of certain matches in the PG era but let me ask you... Would CM Punk & Daniel Bryan have gotten nearly 30 minutes of a match on an Attitude Era ppv from 1998-99? Only way that would've happened was if they were on the Fully Loaded 2000 PPV, which I still feel is the MOST UNDERRATED WWF PPV of all time. I know someone is going to bring up that the Attitude Era ratings blow the PG era ratings away so let's discuss it... What's the one thing the Attitude Era had that the PG Era doesn't? COMPETITION from a fellow professional wrestling company. Is it no coincidence that once WWF bought their competition in WCW, their ratings started to slide? Go back and look at all the gimmick matches they started putting on Raw in Spring 2001 to try to get back to the 5.0 mark after the WCW buyout. If the Attitude Era was the "end-all, be-all" of professional wrestling, why didn't the WCW fans come over and watch after the buyout and send the ratings through the roof? Attitude Era extremists don't bring this up but was the Osbourne Family reality show on MTV that started pulling away the Attitude Era audience and those fans all left once WWF wasn't "the cool thing" anymore in their eyes. Now, what's something the PG Era has to deal with today that the Attitude Era didn't? DVR. During the Monday Night Wars, you couldn't tivo/DVR Raw & Nitro. You either had to channel surf or record one and watch the other or record the encore of Nitro later that night if you were recording Raw. Another thing the PG Era has to deal with are sites like YouTube and Daily Motion. Fans now can afford to skip the initial airing of WWE shows because they know they'll be uploaded on Youtube and they can watch at their convenience.

The Only Problem With This PG Era There's Not To Many Bloody Matches, No Chair Shots To The Head And No WWE Divas In Sexy Clothes.

Actually, every era has had some absolutely terrible things about it.
The attitude era had some bizarre stuff like Mae Young giving birth to a hand.
Even the 80s/Early 90s era had Ric Flair in it.
The new generation was filled with stuff like Mantaur, Damien Demento and Friar Furgeson.
The modern era has stuff like The Miz and Wade Barrett, the WWE can never be completely good.

If you relate to New Jack and John Zandig you have serious problems.
and if I read one more thing about how much better the Attitude Era was than now, I will start ****ing on people's chests.

Just the sheer fact that we have wrestling from people like Rhodes, Bryan, Punk, Ziggler as well as others stepping it up and established people like Jericho, Mysterio etc. I love this era a lot.
'03 to '06 will always be my favorite, especially Smackdown.

I wish people would stop considering this the PG Era since it was only TV-14 for ten years of it's sixty year existence.

I personally love what's going on with WWE right now. It's been really entertaining, and the feuds they set up are awesome. The attitude era was cool, but it's over now, and it's time to move on. this

I voted on the PG Era because I live for the now, when a new 'era' is brought in then I will probably continue to enjoy that because I can move on along with the WWE. It doesn't mean I have to like everything that is happening, but cartoon gimmicks and stupid segments have been around in the WWE for many many years no matter the 'era'.

you should be banned on the basis of lack of comprehension/maturity. and truth be told - we're getting better quality in matches far more consistently than the attitude era. you don't know what you're talking about.

Booking - golden Athleticism - modern Personality - golden Shock factor - attitude Wrestling - this one is tough, Late 80's NWA , pre-attitude era WWF('96-'97), post-attitude era ('02-'04) all tied.

I think for all of us who grew up during the attitude era nothing can compare. For wrestling fans we got lucky. Unfortunately for the young-ins today you get John Cena and the residue's of our era... Kane, Taker, Rock. You get a piece of our history but not what we had.
