uTorrent problem (won't open or update)

I've never had a problem with uTorrent...at all. Up until just recently, about a month ago to be exact.

I have Windows XP on an older laptop with McAfee installed and running.
I went to update uTorrent and when I click "Run" on the installation the box just disappears....that's it.
It never runs and uTorrent is never in my programs list.

I was able to open it really quick as soon as windows started but then it would just close after about 2 minutes...i got it opened and set it to "start when windows starts"....same thing. it would open and then just instantly disappear after about 2 minutes....and I mean disappear, no tray, no process...nothing.
Torrents won't open it
Clicking the different icons (start menu, program files, etc) won't open it.

It's like the computer is just not letting it open. I tried to uninstall, wouldn't let me.
I tried to re-install....saved the install file from Chrome & IE to my desktop and the same thing happens....the "run" dialog box opens, when I click Run it just disappears and never runs the set up.

WHAT THE HELL?
Can anyone provide some insight to this?
