Being a MIB/MOC collector I had never taken my figures out of the box to play with them but last night I played with a few and now I am broken out in an itchy, red, slighly bumpy rash on my hands.
I had Barbies as a kid and I work part time in a food prep job and have to wear various kinds of gloves so I know it isn't a plastic or latex allergy.
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm not sure if it was the Mattel figure, the Jakks figures or both but it is annoying the **** out of me.
Any suggestions for relief will be appreciated as calamine lotion doesn't help at all.

Wow that sucks. I think you can go to the doctor and you get a blood test which reveals what it is that your allergic to. Maybe it's the chemicals in the paint? Regarding treatment, best chiice is to visit a doctor, but for the time being try baby powder. If it gets bad buy some QV oil (instructions on use on the back).

Oh no. I keep my figures clean. Air horns, dusters, vaccum, slightly damp cloths etc. I have also lived with some of the dustiest homes known to mankind. No dust allergies here.

I'm thinking that it may be something in the knee pads that they use to make the plastic flexable.

I doubt it, but if you want you can remove knee pads, wait until the rashes decrease then try holding the figure without kneepads or elbow pads. If its still giving you a rash or spots etc then I think I very well could be the paint.

Never heard of such a thing. But I would go to a dermatologist or an allergist to be on the safe side

I would take one of the figures and move it against my upper arm and see if it broke that area out as well. If it did, I would wash the figures in hot water and go seek professional help like the others suggested.
If you are allergic to something on them, buy a pair of baseball gloves or Mechanic gloves to wear while you are playing with them in the future.

Go to the doctor and tell him your wrestling figures are making you break out.

Wow this has to be some sort of dumb joke I now feel dumber for reading this thanks Unfortunately it isn't a joke. Thankfully the reaction has ended but it was rather unpleasant. My doctor is out until Tuesday but I am going to throw the figures into a plastic bag and have her do an allergy test on me or something as it is not an experience I wish to repeat.
