UFC president Dana White called it an “all time low”. An injury to Dan Henderson’s knee has forced the UFC to cancel their upcoming pay per view event for the first time. White also announced that he offered the fight on short notice to Chael Sonnen, who accepted. Unfortnately Jones turned down the fight, and now the entire fight card is scrapped. No news has surfaced as to when and if the other fights on the card will be rescheduled. Jones turned down the fight with Sonnen, according to Dana White, based on the advice of coach Greg Jackson. Jackson led Jones to the decision by telling him that a short notice fight with Sonnen would be the “biggest mistake of his career”. This clearly bothered White, who called Jackson a “sport killer” and insinuated that Jones was harder to work with than his former nemesis Tito Ortiz. With Henderson out indefinitely due to injury, Jones will now defend his title at UFC 152 (which will now become UFC 151) against Lyoto Machida. mmacarnivale.com/2012/08/ufc-151-cancelled-due-to-dan-henderson-injury/

UFC 151 is cancelled. UFC 152 will have Jones vs. Machida for the title.

MCL tear for Henderson
Dana said on the call that Jones turned down a Sonnen fight. Greg Jackson apparently said it would be a huge mistake, so Jones denied the fight
152 now apparently becomes 151, stat wise. Undercard is scrapped a togeher and Jones headlines vs. Machida on Toronto

Sadly and unfortunately, I partially tore a ligament in my knee in training. As a result I've had to make one of the toughest decisions that I have ever had to make...for the first time in my career I am forced to pull out of a fight, my fight with Jon Jones at UFC 151. Luckily, surgery is not needed at this time and I will be completely devoted to rehabing my knee as quickly as possible. I feel that I owe it to my fans and all the people supporting me to fight at my full potential in order to give myself a chance to win the UFC title. I appreciate the loyal support that I have felt from my fans. I want to thank all of my coaches and team of guys for the great support with my training camp. Most importantly, I appreciate their honesty when I needed them the most to make this very difficult decision. I also want to thank Dana and Lorenzo for being so understanding and supportive. I will continue to pursue the UFC belt with all of my heart! - Dan Henderson

Sonnen has a wrestling base, just like Hendo, hasn't trained at all for this fight, has no H Bomb power, and he turned it the down to fight Machida, who is arguably more dangerous. Good job, Johnny.

It's funny that he ducked a middleweight. A Middleweight.

It's funny that he ducked a middleweight. A Middleweight. Exactly. For a guy that says he's about money, he turned down a big money fight. Chael even on 8 days notice could hype the crap out of this. Lets face it, Jones would have probably beaten him too. Sonnen brings outstanding wrestling, which Jones was already prepped for with the Hendo fight, and we've seen what happens when wrestlers fight Jones. Machida is a more dangerous fight in my book. Yes, Jones beat him before, but Machida is ALWAYS dangerous. I just don't get why he turned Sonnen down.

I feel sorry for the other fighters that are now out time and money. Dana said it best, Jones is rich. He has his money, however most of the guys on the card do not, and now are out money they were counting on to feed their families, pay bills, etc. All because of one selfish act by Jones.
I don't get the logic in ducking the fight. He is also taking the fight on short notice, he HASN'T been training for a fight, unlike Jones, and is similar style to the original opponent. Plus, on the chance that Chael WOULD win, I'm sure Jones would get an immediate rematch.

If it wasn't for short-notice title fights, Jones would have never gotten to fight Shogun. Just sayin'.

it's also funny, because Jones tweeted like 2 days ago that he fights for MONEY. Sonnen vs. Jones would have been a HUGE money fight, even on 8 days notice.

Change the title of the thread, please. 'UFC 151 cancelled, Jones refuses Sonnen fight.' I never liked Jones. Ugh. This mother er.

Jones scared to face a middleweight who hasn't trained, that guy.

Joe Rogan: "Now the entire UFC card is scrapped because Jones didn't accept a fight with a 185lb'er who is completely out of shape. WOW. Just wow."

I just don't get why he turned Sonnen down. The only thing I could think of would be they expected Henderson to gas out so a game plan was created to wear Henderson down and cruise to an easy decision. Sonnen may be out of shape but he could still be able to wrestle for 5 rounds and that scared Jackson and Bones.

This is the full Jon Jones heel turn and the full Chael Sonnen face turn. I love it. Haha pretty much. I would have easily paid to see Sonnen vs Jones, and while I was excited for the Hendo fight, the circumstances would have only amplified my interest with Sonnen stepping in. SMH at Bones, he really is going to look like a bad guy here, and I think it's pretty justified.

Yeah, I'm on both sides of the fence on this one. On one end, I KNOW that Jones is talented enough to have accepted this fight and won. He should've. But on the other hand, Sonnen can be a game changer no matter who he steps in with. Jones has ALOT more to lose in that fight than Sonnen does. So I don't think the decision of whether to fight Chael or not is the no brainer people would like to believe.
But the bottom line is that the fans want a champ who will defend his title against all challengers at any time. Jon Jones has just proven that he's not that champion, and will look like the bad guy for doing so.
