Just read the normal Batman comic. #1 - #11 is the best comic I have read this year. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Until you get deep into the court of Owls stuff which reveals two lost bat family members which was a cheesy move. Talon is as good a bad guy (all two dozen of him) as Hush and not nearly as interesting. I didn't think it was cheesy. And they left it out for your interpretation, if he was really a Wayne. So it could have easily been a lie by him. I think Talon would not be good on his own, and shouldn't be in the comic again, but for the story, I thought it worked well. I thought there were a lot of twists, and you didn't know what to expect in the next issues. To the OP: Everyone dislikes something. But everyone I personally know, who has read the new 52 Batman, has loved it. So why don't you just try the first issue, and see how you like it.

I have to say I've been extremely tempted by Marvel's digital subscription thing. $55 for a year seems to give access to a crap ton of old stuff. I was honestly never much of a Marvel fan and always more of a DC guy. I'm concluding that the new 52 stuff is just trash. Complete and total trash. I'm not through reading Batman and Robin, but I can say that I really don't care for Damian and find him extremely annoying. I want someone (preferably Bruce) to just beat the living dog crap out of him. I want that so bad. But it never happens. Then I made the mistake of buying Catwoman #1. It was so sexist and degrading to women in general that even I was offended. The ending just made me want to drive over a bridge. Not just because Catwoman's only weapon now is apparently her sexuality, but that this is the 3rd Batman I've seen in the new 52 universe. There is apparently the JL Batman that's set 5 years in the past, the Batman and Robin Batman that's set in the present and the Catwoman Batman that's set somewhere in the middle. It makes no sense whatsoever that every single comic is set in a different time period. It's enough to make me defect to Marvel even though I've never bought the idea of every single hero operating out of one city. You've read three books out of 52 and you're just concluding that its all trash, hahahahaha. And not every book takes place in different times, you've read 2 that take place in the past and the rest take place in the present, its not that confusing. Also yeah what a great idea of having a 10 year old kid getting the **** beaten out of him by his father.

In those three books I've seen all the major characters and none of them are appealing at all. Rebooting only half of your characters is the most asinine thing in the world to do.

Action comics is great as well, really enjoying where Morrison is going with this run.

too bad morrisons run ends in like 2 issues, and probably won't return to write Superman for a number of years.

I was reading everything, and I stopped reading all of the new 52 stuff completely about 6 months ago. I just looked up and realized I hated what DC was doing. Like, a LOT. I hated what they did to Superman and the Justice League. I hated all the excessive lines on the costume re-designs. I hate how most heroes were rebooted but some weren't, making everything more confusing than ever. A few books were really good, but I think I am just going to wait until they launch whatever Crisis Event they decide to do to fix this mess.

I started following alot of the main heros stories and the JL comic when the new 52 first came out, but have mainly only been following Detective Comics and some of the other Batman titles. Aquaman is the only other that I've been following fully.
I agree with others that it can be very confusing at times that some characters got full reboots, while others did not. I love the Batman titles right now, but some stuff, like Barbara Gordon being Batgirl again, seem stupid and/or confuzing. Aquaman has been really good, as the writters have done a good job showing that he is not a joke, and is a great hero.

I tried reading Flash, but even after 15 issues or so it's just not the same. I don't care for the way his costume looks or how Wally West doesn't even exist. I grew up with Wally West as the Flash and Barry Allen dead. Now Wally doesn't exist. It's weird. Trying to get into Nightwing, but the Bat continuity is confusing to me. Some books it's like Batman works closely with the police and others he's a hunted criminal. Very confusing to me as a casual reader.

Justice League of America just started up. First issue was a set up for the group but it was interesting. Basic summary is the team is being set up by the American government as a check for the actual Justice League if they ever have to be taken down. Pretty interesting and a few surprises to the team. Looking forward to this and so far its started better than the Justice League comic did.

Is anyone reading Phantom Stranger and if so is it a good read? I want to try out some of the lesser known books.

They're killing me by not doing digital subs. I buy a book. I like it. A month later I've forgotten 'cuz I'm not the kind of comics nerd who goes down to the comic book store every week to see what has just come out. By the time I remember, months have one by and I figure I'll just buy the tpb. Maybe.
Now, if they gave me a digital sub and just took my money every month and I got notified that the latest copy of my favorite book was ready, then I'm all in.

They aren't doing the digital subs because that would be the final dagger into the heart of 90% of brick and mortar stores. Even though they are already dead and just don't know it. But for whatever reason Marvel and DC are afraid to embrace digital technology in a way that makes sense to the consumer. I'm not going to pay $4 per title for a digital copy of a comic littered with ads. Even if I were, most titles aren't available when first published.

Paying the exact same price for a digital copy as a physical copy just makes no sense at all in the marketplace. Can you imagine paying $17 for a digital copy of a new album? Of course not. What kills me is DC and Marvel are just leaving piles of money on the table in order to preserve a business model that is already dead like you mentioned. There are tons of money on the table and they're just leaving it there.

Scott Snyder's Batman and Swamp Thing are two of my favorites out of the New 52.
Green Lantern, Animal Man, and Justice League are also pretty solid. I haven't read Aquaman outside of the recent cross over with Justice League, but have heard nothing but great things from the series.
What's everybody's opinion on Wonder Woman? The reviews for it are mixed.
