I used to only collect basic because I hated how the ab joint looked. I've gotten over it now though and collect both. Both have their pros and cons.

I prefer Elites, but also collect Basics too. This is actually perfect timing because I was actually thinking about the difference between the 2 today. Our WalMart had the Global Superstars Sheamus, I was checking him out thinking that if I didn't already have a Sheamus that would be a great one to get, plus the head sculpt is awesome. But then I got thinking about the difference in looks between this one and the Elite 8 Sheamus that I've got and gotta admit the Elite looks alot better than the Basic.
I do try to collect some of both however, most of the time if its one of my favorite wrestlers or if the figure just looks awesome I'll buy the Elites, but if its someone that I like but isn't a favorite then I may just buy a Basic.

I prefer basics. When you get right down to it, these are still toys as in kids play things. We collectors have changed the market and it's reflected in detail and price. Will I buy elite? Duh. How else would I get my Classic/Legend/Flashback fix? But given a choice I will always take basic. Maybe it's just an old fart like me hanging onto my youth.

I prefer the Elite ones mostly for the articulation. I like ability to give them a wider stance when displaying them and have them mimic iconic poses. I also like that the Elite figures have the tattoos colored in on Punk, and even the rose on Orton.
I did get my first basic yesterday which was the Global Yoshi Tatsu. I love the look of the figure and since it won't be out in Elite, I grabbed it. Ill probably do the same with the basic white Sin Cara.

I prefer Elite but some basics are just perfect. Take Hurricane, I know we only got a basic but that is damn near a perfect figure. Cant seem to take him off my display no matter what.

Each line has their own benefits but they are called Elite for a reason. I collect both but prefer Elites over Basics.

Will mostly get Basics but get an Elite if its a really amazing figure - E11 Punk, comes with an accessory or belt wanted like E14 Del Rio MITB case and Shiny WWE Title, or is only in the Elite line - Heath Slater [in awesome attire], Diesel etc
Basic are easier to find and are cheaper in the UK as we get them on sale or in special buy 1 get one half price, Elites are sold in very few places and never go onsale or in promotions.

I like the look of the basics more. With the Elites since day one I've said that anyone wearing trunks looks like they have a reverse wedgie going on.

I actually started as a Basic collector only, but started collecting the occasional Elite as well!
I still prefer Basics though!

Basics are far superior in my eyes for these few simple reasons.
1. The price point. It's hard to dish out $17-20 per figure for elites compared to $10-12 for a basics.
2. I hate the stomach articulation. I think it makes the figure look cartoonish.
3. I've got small kids and the small accesories that come with the Elites are choking hazards. For every accesorie I keep out of the house is one less choking hazard in the house.
4. Basics are much easier to find retail. Very few stores in my area carry Elites.

I really prefer the elites because of the extra detail and accessories. Basics are nice if thats all you can afford I guess, I have a few basics like hbk, warrior, hart, guerrero, swoggle and taker because I am a sucker for any legends figures.

I prefer elites. Sure the basics seem more sturdy because they lack articulation and don't have to worry about holding its own weight, but i really don't have a problem with any of the elites I have standing. Sure some have loose joints but with 120 elites in my collection, I learned how to make them stand with out falling. Also, I do play around with mine sometimes and basics just suck for that. Its like there all the same size and really small compared to elites, and the lack of leg articulation and stomach articulation really ruins the playability for me. The only basics i get are jobbers like the Uso's, Alex Riley, Great Khali, Jinder Mahal and that's all they do in my fed is job. Basics are good if your planning to stand them on a shelf and not want to spend a lot of money or care about accessories, but if you want the best, elites are where it's at.

I like Basics a lot, but the Elite style is everything I wanted out of a wrestling action figure when I was younger and played with the things.
Since I don't collect, I only work with these figures through orders. I used to love working with Basics but got so many "I'd buy that, but its not Elite" messages, I had to make the jump to Elite. I haven't worked with the Basic style in about 2yrs or more.
