Of course they are. I've always though that, in the modern era, the pricing strategy should be as follows... $49.99 for Wrestlemania, $39.99 for Royal Rumble, Summerslam, and Survivor Series, and $29.99 for everything else. I wouldn't mind having this to be honest. But Vince doesn't care because....

The pay-per-view events are more expensive and their quality is worse, with a few exceptions. That's a head scratcher.

I think $45 is way too expensive for them, given the current financial climate and the general lack of must-see factor at the moment. For example, everything on Night of Champions was either something we'd seen many times before (Cena vs Punk, Del Rio vs Sheamus), something that was just like a free TV match, or both. Orton vs Ziggler was pretty much the same thing they did on TV several times in the last two weeks. And they didn't even bother coming up with a storyline for why these two are fighting. No way does a show like that deserve $45. I guess the question for WWE is... Would reducing the price by a third to $30 mean a third more people would order the shows? Just buy the DVD when it comes out. It's cheaper that way Stupid idea. To do that, you either have to avoid spoilers (and thus the TV shows) for the weeks until the DVD comes out... Or you'd be buying the DVD already knowing all the results. It's one thing to collect DVDs, but it's another to think that it's a viable alternative to watching the show when it happens. Of course they are. Yes. But it is what it is. I try not to get every PPV cause (my wife would kill me) it's just too pricey to do so.

I think it would be an interesting market test to offer a Pay-Per-View at a discounted rate (say $29.99) and see how it sells, regardless of the card. Something tells me that there would be a good possibility they'd get more buyrates, and a larger profit in the long run.
For example, though I'm just one person and my mindset isn't the same as every fan, I think there is something to be said about the fact that I didn't order Night of Champions tonight, mostly because I got Summerslam last month. It was a great card, though, and had it been $29.99, I wouldn't have hesitated to purchase it.
Again, who knows, maybe it would make no difference at all, but it couldn't hurt to give it a shot.

Yeah, I go to Wild Wings also. Buy $15 worth of food, and the dvd a month later for $20. It's $10 under the $45 asking price, and I got food and a dvd out of the deal.

It wouldn't be too bad if there were only 4-6 per year, but every month is too much.

I agree they are too much.
They should be $30 and $35 for HD.
My friends and I usually order the bigger PPVs [RR, WM, SS, SvS] but today we all chipped in for NOC instead of going to a local wrestling show which was what were planning on doing.
When 4+ people can help split the costs of the event, food, etc then it works out imo.
Although we mainly just do it for bigger PPVs; today was just a spur of the moment thing and I was satisfied I guess.

Most things about WWE are overpriced. TV 1st row ticket in 2005 - $42 + fees TV 1st row ticket in 2012 - $90 + fees

Not only are they overpriced, but the majority of the time they're not even worth it.

£14.99 is just under $25. The price in the US is almost twice that...higher if it's in HD. True....but there's a few things you may not realise. All WWE programming (except for Superstars and WWE Experience) airs on Sky Sports. Sky Sports is a subscription channel, which you have to pay extra for on top of your cable bill. So, it's £15 a month for PPVs but you can also add £20+ on top of that for access to Raw, SmackDown and other shows. In total, it comes to around £35-40 a month, which is approximately $65 a month. Doesn't seem like such a great deal now, does it?

you could go to the ppv cheaper than ordering if it's in your area

Just buy the DVD when it comes out. It's cheaper that way There is a group of me and about 4 buddies and we usually get together to split the PPVs, both TNA and WWE, but if we don't do it for whatever reason that month, I just buy the DVD. If the PPV is good I end up buying the DVD anyway so I don't feel like I'm out anything. I will say this for the overall price though, way too expensive. If you order in HD they tack on $10 and then you have to pay an extra fee to DirecTV, like that satellite usage fee, once your bill comes at the end of the month. $30 for standard and $35 for HD would be reasonable imo. The value just isn't there for me that I can justify dropping $60 every month and feel like I got my moneys worth. Mania is one thing but average joe PPVs is a different story. That's why I think they should drop the number of PPVs to help the build and make matches feel more important and more can't miss. I know that probably isn't going to ever happen, and I would assume a price decrease on PPVs is even less likely, but in theory, it's a good idea imo.

I would say the prices are way too expensive. The last PPV I ordered was WM 23.
I just watch them six months later on WWE Classic for $8 a month. I can wait. They don't show WM until 12 months later, but I got the DVD with the program so no big deal.
With the PPVs becoming more predictable and the prices skyrocketing, I just don't feel like they ever would be worth the price. I'm not against you guys who do order the PPVs, you love wrestling just like I do. But they are just too damn pricey for me to not feel ripped off afterwards.
