Now i know that the topic of reforming factions comes up alot... i mean any time two or more black guys enter the roster, someone thinks there should be a new N.O.D... but after looking at an article on WWE.com about re-incarnating old factions, I actually think reforming a new ministry could work in PG WWE, and these are my reasons.
Also, one thing I'd like to say, whilst I will hence-forth refer to this group as 'Ministry' I'm not saying that would have to be their name, if anything a different name would help differentiate them from the 90's Ministry
1. It would allow Taker to appear more frequently without jeopardising his health
If there was to be a new Ministry, it would have to be headed by Taker, it wouldn't work any other way. With Taker's physical health dubious at best currently, this would be a perfect role for him. have him as more of a mouthpiece / leader than an active competitor. I'm not saying he should never compete, but it could be limited to special events... lets say someone starts feuding with the Ministry, the only time Taker would step in is if all other members of the ministry have been defeated. He would be the top ring on the ladder, the only way to reach him is climbing through the rest.
2. It could add an interesting dynamic to Kane
I love Kane, I think he is a great big man wrestler, great on the mic and has a great look again, but we all know he is somewhat cursed by creative's hit and usually miss writing for him. Right now, the Kane and Daniel Bryan stuff is gold, but it is not something that can last forever... there's only so many times you can do anger management courses and have Kane and Bryan hug before it becomes stagnant... Undertaker reforming the Ministry could add a great new dynamic to Kane (and in a way Bryan) when their tag team starts becoming stale. I'd have the first sort of storyline of the Ministry being them trying to get Kane to turn his back on his partnership with Bryan (and in some way, turn his back on a sort of 'normality / happiness') to rejoin the dark-side with his brother... how it ends, that's depends on how it is received by the fans. Kane could join the Ministry, stay with Bryan or have his psyche fractured and just go berserk on them both.
3. It could be a chance to repackage Wrestlers who are currently languishing
This is exactly what the original Ministry did for Mabel and Phineas I. Godwinn. Both were languishing in mediocrity until repackaged as Viscera and Mideon. Now yes they didn't become mega stars, but it breathed some fresh air into their careers.
4. It would be a great way to bring up new stars
There are a lot of guys in NXT with tons of talent... but when they make the jump to WWE, alot of them could easily get lost in the shuffle (looking at you McGillicutty). Pairing these up-n-comers with veterans such as Undertaker in a group like Ministry will go a long way in getting these new guys noticed... sure its no guarentee that they will become stars beyond the ministry, but it can only help them.
5. It would give the product more than one main event storyline at a time
You all know what i mean by this... the the last few years, aside from at Wrestlemania time, it seems that WWE only has one storyline running at a time within the main even scene, aside from that, everyone else is just having matches cos one guy is a face and one guy is a heel... Again, kudos to the Kane / Bryan storyline for changing this a little lately. having ministry with numerous members would allow for more storylines that aren't confined within the main event.
6. It could work in a PG environment
Ok i admit, a ministry style faction would be better within a non PG product, but it could work... if anything the PG rating could help the group, not making it as over the top and barbaric as before would set it apart somewhat from the previous incarnation, which in turn would make is seem less like a nostalgia trip. Basically rather than sacrifices and such, the group could use mind games similar to the ones Taker used on Kane leading up to Wrestlemania XX. Theres alot of stuff that can still be done in PG.
Now if i was going to assemble the group, id definitely have these guys in it:
Undertaker - Leader of the group
Paul Bearer - Manager of all members, could be the kick start to the Ministry reforming
Tensai - Look at point 3 above, he's a big imposing guy with alot of talent if you look at his Japanese stuff, who could really do with being repackaged.
The Ascension - Look at point 4 above, they have a similar gimmick on NXT, refine it a bit (no more stupid screaming) and they could benefit from the rub the Ministry could give them
Guys who could potentially fit into the group:
Kane - This would all depend on the outcome of the feud stated in point 2
Gangrel - He never was a big star, but people loved the guy, as did i, and he'd be a great throwback to the previous incarnation... perhaps have him lead the Ascension like he led the brood
Bray Wyatt - Looking at NXT, this guy would fit into a ministry-esque faction, but i feel his character may be more suited to leading a group
Brodus Clay - He's a big imposing guy with mic skills and his NXT gimmick could fit the group... problem is i think he's too marketable as the Funkasaurus for the ministry group to have any advantage for him or the WWE
If you read that all, thanks, it's just an idea i had, would be cool to get your guys opinion on it, or make your own current day Ministry within this thread. I know the idea of rehashing old factions is never favourable, but i feel this idea has some merit
