My theory is that Papa Shango, Kane from elite 12, and Boss Man were all supposed to be in a legends series but were moved to flashback elites. My guess is the Bret figure got moved to the DM line with some added accessories as Rey and Macho Man were supposed to be in wave 5 of DM. Tito Santana was on Matty Collector's list to vote on for a figure but recieved very few votes. Legends Series 7 was supposed to be Andre, DDP, Magnum TA and Steve Austin. I actually saw the Austin prototype figures sell on ebay last year for around 80 bucks. The 2nd wave of Legends 2 packs at TRU was planned to be Rockers, Kerry and Kevin Von Erich and the Rougeaus. Rey & Macho were DM 5 like you said but Bill said Hart & Cena were actually DM6. Since so many Reys & Machos had been released, they decided to canel series 5 instead of 6 and just bump 6 up. As for Shango & Kane, Shango was probably slated for something like Legends 8 if I had to guess but if what Bill (MDT) says is true, Kane wouldnt have been slotted for a Legends line as he was a "current" star. Of course only MTD could verify that so I dunno. As for tag teams, I believe the 3rd team would have been the Brain Busters as when Rockers/Von Erichs protos were released, Rougeaus were still being "rumored" to be getting signed.

Could Mattel just bring Legends back to retail already! All this talk is making me sad! This. Even if it's just re-released or re-painted/re-tooled figures... just try bringing out a new Legends series at retail and see what happens. Use the "big guns" - Warrior, Savage, Bret, Yokozuna, Diesel, Mankind, LOD in red, Stone Cold, Undertaker, The Rock, Andre etc. Get the line going first, and build from there.

I like the idea honestly. They could use just those names and pop out 4-5 killer sets and then gradually add in smaller names that are wanted from the collectors but will appeal to kids aswell. I'd do it something like this: Series 0: Ultimate Warrior-Purple Gear (ala his 3rd Hasbro fig) Macho Man Randy Savage- WM 8 or 10 Bret Hart-Survivor Series 96 Magnum TA-Legends 7 proto Series 1: Yokozuna-FB re-release with elbow pad, beard and wrist tape Diesel-WM 12 Mankind-KOTR 98 Stone Cold-Legends 7 proto Series 2: Animal-Debut WWF gear Hawk-Debut WWF gear Jimmy Snuka-Barefoot Undertaker-Purple Gloves with removable mask Series 3: Rocky Maivia-Debut or Black gear Andre The Giant-Beard with dark blue singlet Shawn Michaels-One Night Only or MSJ Sgt. Slaughter-Camo gear Series 4: Triple H-Summer Slam 98 Kane-Inverted debut attire Booker T-Anything Barry Windham-Anything he wore while he was a horseman The rule about current guys not being able to be included in the original line was ing stupid and only helped dig the lines grave.

I couldn't believe what I read after the MDT said this. How stupid and boneheaded was this move?! Mattel wouldn't need to have to sign them as they're already under WWE contract. Plus the likelihood of modern fans buying these figures I would bet is much higher than keeping only current talent in the basic & elite lines. Mattel basically threw away Legend figures of HBK, Undertaker, HHH, Bret Hart, and several others that would have been money-makers for the Legends line.
