it's great. the title actually means something again. exactly my feeling on the matter. I love it. I dont think its to protect anything, but its just mainly to make the title worthwhile and wwe worth watching more to see when he loses the title up against certain people in certain matches.

Why the Cena hate? Why does it have to be protected from a "Guy like Cena?" I think it was to protect it in general, as well as to make title changes more meaningful. Besides, if the Punk/Foley promos are any indicator (as much as I love Foley), they're trying to hammer home the point that longevity is more important than number of reigns. This is why I always get tired of people/wrestlers saying "I want to WIN or I want so & so to win the world championship." I want a young gun to come along whose primary goal to keep it & protect it from undeserving hands. Good post sir.

I think it is purely to restore respect and meaning to the titles, which I'm extremely happy about. I was so tired of the 2-3 month reigns, the fact that Cena and Edge both have 10+ World titles since '05/'06 doesn't sit well with me.

I think the longer title reign idea is a good idea. I hate hot potato with the title. Let somebody establish themselves with it. Two of my favorite reigns were John Cena's 2005 WWE Title reign and Batista's 2005 World Heavyweight Title reign. Of course, as a Cena fan I am a big fan of his 2007 title run as well-possibly one of my all time favorites. HHH's World Heavyweight Title run in 2002 was a good one as well. CM Punk is a bigger name because of his current title reign.

I don't think kids right now that people like Piper are that awesome since they never held the title I don't think that's really true. Piper, by being one of the very top stars when the 80s boom happened (and by appearing on Raw a couple of times a year), is held in much higher regard than the likes of Backlund and Sammartino. That's wrong on so many level's especially in the case of Sammartino. Piper himself would say the same thing.
