In 2010 and 2011 , the best of sets were always just re-releases of 6 figures released earlier in the year.
So I bought the 2012 set and don't really understand the concept behind it. Rey obviosuly was in a 2 pack with Miz, but Rio and Brodus were never released in those attires. And Khali was NEVER made all year long. Can anyone shed some light ?
It's a nice looking set, but just didn't understand why Khali or other figures we never got before were in the set.

Because they decided to use the Best of 2012 (which is really just an extra basic series) to give us some new figures for a change.

This was probably my favorite set released all year long.....But, you are correct. How can it be the "Best of 2012" when only 1 figure from the set was actually released previously. Plus, it certainly wasn't based off of the wrestlers 2012 year because Sin Cara and Khali were MIA a good majority of the year.
With that being said, I LOVE how they decided to give us different figures this year in the set. It was tough enough getting rid of most of those figures they released in 2010 and 2011 the first go-around and then to have them re-release them just clogged the shelves even longer. As a matter of fact, there is a K-mart near me that still has a 2010 and 2011 Orton figure.

Wasn't Santino in last years set even though he didn't have a new figure that year? I for one would rather have new looks instead of repaints.

Should be called worst of 2012. I mean just look at the stats
Khali - Irrelevant all year
Rey - Absent half the year, then came back and quickly lost feud with Miz
Sin Cara - Absent til about July, came back did nothing
Del Rio - Miserably lost WHC feud to Sheamus
Clay - Had undefeated streak, but once he lost he was completely irrelevant.

I bought Khali for my nephews for Christmas. Other than that. I could care less about that set because my Walmart keeps getting slammed with BO2012

What the hell? This is one of the top basic sets of the year. And its a Best of line. I bought Khali, Sin Cara, and Daniel Bryan. And Brodus is a great fig as well. But I prefer B15.
Some of you whiners should hush up unless you want them re releasing Cena, Orton, Rey, HHH, Taker, and Sheamus. Then we all would have something to complain about.

We complained about the last two sets warming shelves, so they gave us a "Best of" set that represents some of the best characters of 2012, instead of straight re-releases.

They could use the Best Of series to re-release figures that sold well and were hard to find, but I guess that makes too much sense.

If ya want repaints then they do have a Signature Series every few months. You know, the set that most bellyache over them warming shelves. So why condemn Mattel for giving us something fresh?

We get the sig series sets, which are basically re-releases so I'm glad Mattel went down the new figure road on this set. And, it's a fantastic set. All the figures are great, even Rey.
