Picked up seasons 1-5 on Boxing Day for £30 and I am currently on disc two of season 4. I'd seen the show before but wasn't a regular viewer and I have to say, it's quickly become my favourite show! I don't know what it is, but everything is perfect. It's just an all round great show!
So, what does WFigs think of the show?

You're going to probably hear one of the following 3 opinions:
1. Best show ever. 2. Worst show ever. 3. Best show ever until they added more girls.
Me, I like it. And I didn't mind when they added more girls, either. But then again, I'm always in favor of more Mayim Bialik.

I was anticipating those three reactions when creating the thread

Oddly enough I like everything about the show except for Sheldon.

I don't necessarily like the show, but I don't hate it. I will watch it from time to time...

Everyone I know loves the show, I dont like it, because I feel like they over hype it to , dont even get half the nerdy jokes, think bazinga is the funniest thing of all time. I used to like it in season 1 and 2 but then I grew out of it, I mean how many times can you do *knock knock knock* penny, say bazinga and have sheldon awkwardly laugh before it stops being funny I also feel like the majority of people who like it don't get the "nerdy science" jokes, but laugh because the laughing track is there, yeah it may be a live studio audience but im sure they've used laughter tracks to make a weak joke sound hilarious. Plus I've really moved away from Studio audience sitcoms to the point I'm wondering how I even liked them in the first place, I more into sitcoms that are in their own sets, like Modern Family, The Middle and right now I'm watching Up All Night, really loving that. It also feels like a show thats been around for ever and should end, I see adverts for "A BRAND NEW SEASON OF spam" and I think to myself wow, that's still going? same with HIMYM

Whilst I don't get every joke, I do get the majority of them which I suppose works in my favour for liking the show.

How this gets Decent Ratings and Community doesn't is beyond me. I do admit the first two seasons were decent, but felt like I was watching the same thing repeat after awhile. Community just changes episode through episode and it's so well written (Even going as far as a multi-episode joke with Beetlejuice being said three episodes in a row and on the third episode, Beetlejuice is shown in the background. Unknown unless you pay that much attention).

The laugh track is by far the worst thing to ever exist in the whole world. I hate this show so much

I like the show.. and still think it's hilarious! Yes I get the jokes, and if I don't find it funny, I don't laugh (whether the show is telling me to or not). I think most people hate/hate laugh track/hate any show that's ever had a laugh track/hates anything that a large number of people like.. simply dislike it for the sake of "hating anything mainstream."
It starts off as different and funny.. but once it builds up a following, it also gets the following of hate (simply because it is so well received).
Good show!

A majority of things with Laugh tracks put me off, which is a lot of American sitcom type stuff.
I've only seen maybe one episode, I can't really comment much about the show.
I've seen more gifs and screenshot images than I have seen of the program.

Love it
Watch it all the time. It's very much a comedy that requires a laugh out loud sense of humour.
I know people who like very dry boring comedy and they can't get on board with it
Sheldon makes the show, Leonard is hilarious, tbh I love them all

Im quite the fan.
My only negative (granted I havent seen anything past season 5 yet) is that thus far not much has been accomplished. I understand its an episodic sitcom, but i feel it has no direction. I feel theres no big storylines.
Otherwise I do very much enjoy the show, the humor, and of course, Sheldon.

Picked up seasons 1-5 on Boxing Day for £30... I'd seen the show before but wasn't a regular viewer... This is exactly what happened to me, except I got it for £15 as part of HMV's buy one get one half price on box sets (I also bought the Batman Trilogy on Blu-Ray). I like the show, but it's not incredible. I compare it with HIMYM because they're the 2 comedy shows that everyone in my student house watches. Whilst spam is funny the overall storyline is dissapointing (so little happens) and so many episodes end on a random note that I would expect from a cartoon, but not a sitcom. HIMYM manages to be funny whilst retaining a very strong story arc, which is why I would rate it much higher (although spam is still a great laugh). Also, I have no problems with a laugh track, but spam just takes the piss.

I have also recently started watching it through. It's a really good show, very funny. I'm currently on Season 4 episode 11. Howard is definitely my favorite character. You're going to probably hear one of the following 3 opinions: 1. Best show ever. 2. Worst show ever. 3. Best show ever until they added more girls. Me, I like it. And I didn't mind when they added more girls, either. But then again, I'm always in favor of more Mayim Bialik. I actually prefer Bernadette to Penny. Didn't really like her in 8 Simple Rules (even though I love the show), still don't really like her now. Also; to the people saying it has no overall plot. It kinda does. The Leonard/Penny thing is the overall story.

It kinda does. The Leonard/Penny thing is the overall story. 1. MIND BLOWN. I never noticed that at all until you pointed it out. 2. That's the problem. That's it. In most shows there are 3 or 4 overarching plot points per season. spam has 3 or 4 in its entire run.

Fellow "nerds" recommended it to me and seemed shocked that as a "nerd" I hadn't watched it. I gave it a shot but I found it to be just like every formulaic sitcom out there. It isn't a show for nerds, it's just a sitcom wearing a nerd jacket. And the laugh track is completely distracting.
Also I really really really REALLY hate Mayim Bialik.
