At this time, there is reportedly growing concern within WWE as to whether or not CM Punk vs. The Rock at The Royal Rumble is a wise move. The Rumble is a pay-per-view that tends to sell itself and has traditionally always been one of the most purchased PPVs throughout the years. The concern is over whether or not having The Rock in a high profile match at the Rumble is the best use of WWE's time and focus. There are some WWE officials who feel that with The Rock appearing at the pay-per-view, the attention paid to the Royal Rumble match will be less than what it should be from both an advertising and creative standpoint. Currently there is no set plan or path on exactly what is going to happen regarding The Rock at the Royal Rumble and the road to WrestleMania. A few months ago, people would have stated that it was a sure thing The Rock wins the title at Rumble. But now there is less certainty as WWE is said to have not made final decisions on any of the high profile names, feuds and matches for WrestleMania 29. They will be working heavily on this over the next several weeks.

Didn't the Rumble last year draw a low buy rate? Probably more internet garbage.

No worries, the ppv will be MONEY in the BANK. Rock = more money than usual.
Wise move.

I could see The Rock losing to CM Punk (maybe with help from The Shield or something)... but entering and winning the Royal Rumble match.

for me personally I would not normally buy the Rumble. However if Rock is wrestling for the title I wil. I would imagine there are quite a few people who feel the same way

If they were so concerned, then they shouldn't have announced this match in July.

I honestly don't think that they should end CM Punk's title reign just yet. From a house show standpoint, we all know The Rock will NOT be showing up for anything really. Putting the WWE Championship on him just doesn't seem like the right move.
Having The Rock go over CM Punk @ The Rumble will make Punk look weak and dis-credit the entire current WWE locker room IMO. As much as I would pop if Rocky beat CM Punk, I would just shake my head because then WWE has put themselves into yet ANOTHER creative corner...
Then again, thats just my opinion...

Not thrilled about the source. But it's fun to discuss.

They keep talking about collusion going on with Punk, after everything with the Shield & Maddox. Have Punk go over withanoyher one of those finishes. Cena wins the Rumble, & Rock gets a fair shot at a rematch, thus making a triple threat at WM.
Book it.

Does anybody really believe dirt sheets anymore?
Do you guys REALLY think WWE was like "hey, let's announce that The Rock is wrestling in January 6 months ahead of time and let's just NOT plan anything. Yeah, let's just announce the match with NO advanced planning whatsoever and let's just wing it and come up with something the week of the PPV."
If they didn't have a plan they wouldn't know they needed The Rock at the event. Obviously they know where they are going.

Am I the only one who thinks that punk should go over cleanly over the rock at the rumble ?

If they didn't have a plan they wouldn't know they needed The Rock at the event. Obviously they know where they are going. While agree, I think it's fair to say things have changed. More faith in a rising Ziggler, more stock in Ryback's popularity, The Shield getting over in literally one night. Back in July when they set the whole thing up they probably didn't foresee a lot of that happening. Most notably, the fact that CM Punk has held the title for 400 days and it still feels relatively fresh and unexplored at this point. I think the simple answer here though is the match I have been pandering about for months, and it has been mentioned already, and that is CM Punk vs The Rock vs Cena. That match is huge, bigger than anything else they can give us. There are several ways to get there but ultimately they can still get a huge payout from Rumble and still give us a bigger match at Mania. I can see how Rock would completely detract from the Rumble match but then they put him on the poster haha. The Rumble win hasn't felt important or big for awhile for me because the winner hasn't actually main evented Mania for 4 years at this point. In other words, this wouldn't be the first time a Rumble match has been overshadowed by a title match. I'm buying the Rumble for Punk vs Rock, and I want that match. The Rumble math can end up a disappointment but seeing two guys of that caliber clash for the title is worth my hard earned money.

I could see The Shield interfering, they could come out on RAW the next night and say it was an injustice that The Rock got a title shot handed to him without doing anything to earn it and that's why they attacked him.

It wouldn't be worth it after all the hype to cancel this match. I mean the Rock will be returning to Raw soon, that's the only chance they could cancel the match by The Shield attacking him and injury him.

I think a better idea would be to enter The Rock into the Royal Rumble match.

The content within the first two paragraphs is correct, but this is more internet bullcrap from some site pretending to be 'in the know', that are drawing their own assumptions.
I highly doubt Vince booked this match a long time ago, without planning out well in advance. Rumour has it that Vince likes to know what's going to happen at each Mania almost a year in advance, so this is pure crap IMO.
