I'd rather watch ten cars of Nationwide ' Regulars ' than a field dominated by Cup series guys... It's no fun as a viewer. Nascar needs to limit the amount of races the Cup guys are allowed to race in. The series will be just fine without Brad, Kyle, Denny, Matt, and Joey hogging up the spot light! It's really easy to sit on the Internet and proclaim that NASCAR should limit the Sprint Cup drivers in the Nationwide Series, however you aren't thinking about the backlash from sponsors. You really believe Monster Energy or GameStop are going to settle for a younger driver that will not net the same amount of exposure? Let me ask you a question. When do you see Regan Smith in commercials for his sponsors like TaxSlayer or Goodys? It's rare because they are always using Junior for those commercials. Why? Because he's going to get them more exposure and more people to give two s***s about their product then Regan Smith. That isn't taking anything away from Regan Smith's ability to win races or contend for championships. It's just the reality of the sport. It's not just about what you can do for me on the track. Monster Energy wants Kyle Busch for their brand, not Drew Herring. Discount Tire wants Joey Logano & Brad Keselowski, not Ryan Blaney. Why? Because Kyle Busch is going to sell more Monster's and Joey/Brad are going to sell more tires. It's all about the return on investment and sponsors want that.. EDIT: For crying out loud, look at the TITLE sponsor (Nationwide). Who is the star of their commercials? It's not the Nationwide Regulars. Boy, I wonder why that is..

I have never met a fan at nationwide race who walked out saying "Wow I'm so glad I witnessed Brad win today." (Unless they're saying it sarcastically) Why do fans go to nationwide races then? Well why do fans go to TNA tapings? Because its something to do. Because its there. There will always be fans who show up. Compare today's grandstands to a race back in 2002 when there was the occasional Jeff Burton racing. There's a huge difference and ya know what? The series survived without Cup drivers every race. That's one reason I hate Discount Tire and Monster is because they're forcing Brad, Joey and Kyle to run Nationwide. What do they have yet to prove by running Nationwide? Winning the owners title? Yay... The fact Discount refuses to let Allmendinger or Blaney run full time in the 22 pisses me off. You have two drivers who could probably win every race sitting either on the sideline or in a crap Truck ride, and yet you'd rather have the same old drivers run. People complain about lack of young drivers getting a shot? There's why. Ryan could represent your company well and win races but nope! Gotta have horse teeth or Moldy Bread race the car!

I think you answered your own question really. Nobody goes to Nationwide races. The only ones that do go are the ones that just camp out all weekend at the track and get piss ass drunk. Im pretty sure they would watch dogs run around the track with the amount of alcohol consumed. I understand there has always been cup drivers in the series but they really need to be limited to like 3-5 races per team (not driver)

Yeah, let's make Monster and Discount Tire sponsor their drivers in the Sprint Cup Series. That would totally get Drew Herring and Ryan Blaney into the 54/22 full-time with all that sponsorship that's beating down the door at Penske/Gibbs, right? There aren't sponsors beating down the door anymore looking to spend millions on sponsorship. This isn't the 90s anymore where sponsors are tripping over one another to be apart of NASCAR. Sponsorship makes the world of NASCAR go around and without sponsorship Ryan Blaney, Drew Herring, Bubba Wallace, whomever won't have a full-time ride. You want to put up the thousands upon thousands of dollars to get Ryan Blaney a full-time ride? I didn't think so. Also, there are a ton of drivers that are pure racers. They are wanting to race anything with four tires and an engine. It's what separates guys like Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, and Kyle Larson from others. Those three just want to race. It's why Kyle Larson will be running Nationwide alongside his cup schedule in 2013, why Tony Stewart runs Sprint Cars during the week, and why Kyle Busch runs all three series plus late models. It's not because they are being "forced" into anything by sponsors.. they want to race. So, how about we let them race? The only issue I have with drivers running Nationwide/Truck is when they are running the races like Iowa. Let them race..

Bringing up Jr. being the Nationwide spokesperson means f*ck all after 2014 when Nationwide leaves its spot as title sponser for the series.

Mmmmmpretttttttty sure they're forced. Either Monster has Kyle run or they don't sponsor them period. Same goes for Discount. It's in their contracts, that's why Kurt and Kyle split the 54 last year. The only reason Brad or Kyle don't run is if its a logistics issue. Then only do Ryan, Coulter, or Herring run in the 22 or 54. If they wanted to race so bad race iracing. It doesn't require real world sponsorship and it saves jet fuel instead of flying to Middle-of-Nowhere Utah to race a dirt late model while NASCAR Sprint Cup is in Florida. That's what Kligerman, Timmy Hill, Dale Jr, Denny Hamlin and others do. Tony Stewart broke his leg racing at places he had no reason to run at. He was racing in New York all year to keep an eye on his ex-girlfriend Jessica Zemken. He gave her sprint car equipment to keep her mouth shut about something that happened in their relationship. If he didn't have a bad history with women he wouldn't have had to waste time racing all the time in New York all this year, and that's the only reason he ran every day. He didn't just race to race. Why are you defending Kyle so hard, Christ!

Completely off topic, Lionel has some cars up for Pre order...The two main ones Im wanting both have a TBD time for estimated delivery. Anyone know what the "usual" time is for shipments? The Stewart car was from this year but the Harvick is his car next year and I dont want to pre order something and have to wait until Feb.

I think this year the initial shipment of cars was late and just barely got out before Daytona. Lionel has been slacking a bit as of recent. Late January at the earliest for like the 48,10,14,4,24,5,18 then late Feb-Early March for other drivers.

Why are you defending Kyle so hard, Christ! Sigh. It's quite hilarious how you believe drivers are being forced to run these races. I'm sure there are certain races that drivers are forced into running (like when Roger Penske forced Brad into running Iowa for the owners championship). However, there are actually drivers - like the three I mentioned - that are running races because they want to race. Were was I "defending Kyle so hard" because from where I am sitting.. Kyle was barely mentioned in my entire post. But hey.. focus on whatever you will because god knows Kyle Busch fans can't have an opinion! Tony Stewart ran 36 races for Tony Stewart Racing (his dirt team) and had more planned until his injury. Most of those weren't even in New York. So yeah.. he was "racing just to race" despite whatever story you want to believe.

I was gonna do that but the Stewart car sold out as well as Danica's regular paint scheme. I might just wait and pick up the 1/24th scales at JPs Nascar collectibles. Which btw, if anyone gets around Crossville, TN there is a HUGE Nascar collectibles place (JPs Collectibles) that has pretty good prices on stuff and quite a bit of it also.

We had L&S NASCAR (which was co-owned by Scott Wimmer) which closed in 2004 and DJs Speedzone which closed in 2010. I don't count Packerland Plus, they list NASCAR as sports they sell but they haven't carried it since DJs Speedzone was in business. I wish we had one still but they're just not profitable up here apparently.

Anyone remember when Brad said last year the reason he was running so many Nationwide races is because Discount Tire was making him and not because he really wanted to?
No?
I'll leave.

Brett Fav...I mean... Mark Martin has announced that he will retire in 2014. Lets see if he can hold true to his word this time or if its just retirement from Cup Probably best. I think his time spent in the #14 might have let him realize that he just really doesnt have it anymore. He's been running for very average to below average teams past few years and now he's taking half a season in a Championship caliber car and he's not really competitive at all. He's true class though and I just with he would have won that Title back in the 90s

Mark was probably the best choice at the time to drive the 14 but he has proven that his time has come and gone.

Marky Mark said he's not "retiring", he just has no Cup plans for next year, so he very well could race again. From Jayski: Martin's racing career may be over after Homestead: #14-Mark Martin's legendary racing career may be over after next week. While he wouldn't use the "retirement" word Friday while talking with reporters he says the word has burned him in the past Martin strongly hinted he would not race in 2014 and beyond. Martin said he made the decision not to race in January and has kept it between his friends and family. When he finished third in February's Daytona 500, he said he was pleased knowing it would be his last one. "It's time for me to open a new chapter," Martin said during a 24-minute interview Friday at Phoenix International Raceway. Martin will do testing next season for Stewart-Haas Racing, where he currently drives. He will test Tony Stewart's No. 14 car in January at Daytona, then attend most or all of SHR's tests in 2014 to provide feedback or a second opinion.(USA Today)(11-9-2013)
