Hawk needs bigger arms/shoulders and Animal needed a bigger torso (Iron Sheik) but other then that, these figures are absolutely PERFECT!! I wouldnt have changed a thing about them. Im really glad they released them as the Road Warrior as they truly had the most success of their careers as the Road Warriors. However, I wouldnt mind at all if down the line there is a Legion of Doom set released. I would def buy it as well.

If the L.O.D. had been released in red/black, they would have probably sold 2-3 as many times as they did.
Same goes for all of the other Mattel Legends figures that were released in boring, plain, non-iconic attire. Figures in iconic WWF attire that the collectors are used to = higher sales.
They wanted to be different than Jakks' CS...well they did, they made boring attire figures and lower sales as a result...so they succeeded in being different than Jakks that way.

Too bad none of that is factually true and is all opinion. Mattel has even stated that the Road Warriors sold perfectly fine and were one of the Legends lines best sellers. They've been on the higher end of the secondary market for Legends as well. Nice try putting LOD over though.

They both look great. I just wish I had gotten them when they were available at retail.

I think it's great. The Road Warriors have always been my favorite tag team & I'm glad Mattel did an old school version of them. I think both figures are superb for being put out early in Mattel's run.

Yeah they have! I'm having a helluva time finding a loose L1 Hawk at a decent price.

Like Wagdaddy and others I turned one of my extra Road Warriors sets into red & black versions, but I did keep Hawk's face paint as is. Mainly because it was always my favorite of his face paints.

My only personal gripe was that hawk had some massive traps back then. His shoulders and traps were buldging, so the body mold, IMO should reflect that, but that's just my personal little gripe

Love it, and animal. Although, I do much prefer Jakks attempts being honest.

I would've preferred red and black attire, however that doesn't take away from how great the figures are. What matters is Mattel made them. Hopefully I'll get my hands on both Hawk and Animal one of these days.

They're pretty great figures, it's just a shame that Mattel blew it by going for a more obscure look. For fans of mid-eighties second-rate wrestling feds like NWA and AWA, they appealed, but they just look "off" for the majority of fans/doll-buyers, who'd only know Hawk and Animal from WWF and the nineties WCW run. I held off on getting them for a while because I was waiting for proper LOD versions, and I only bought those Legends 1 figures when I realised that crappy attire decisions like this (as well as various other reasons) were going to kill the line before LOD ever came out.
At the very least, the Road Warriors figures turned out better than the other misjudged Legends choices like white-and-blue Slaughter, and tights-and-boots Snuka.
