Like the title says, any hunters out there?
My grandfather is a big time hunter, and I have gone with him a few times, and now that he is getting older I'm going to try to go more often so I can spend time with him
I also figure that since I'm older now, my patience should last better, and I should enjoy it more
I've always loved dove hunting, and wrap those puppies in bacon and a jalapeño, deep fry them? Freaking delicious.
So...anyone else?

I LOVE hunting. I live in an extremely rural area so hunting is common. Deer, turkey, dove, goose, duck, and occasionally I'll hunt squirrels. I don't hunt anything I wouldn't eat. I enjoy the sport of it and wild game is pretty tasty. I give a fair amount of meat to hunters for the hungry and even some of the older folks in my area. When done legally and ethically hunting is very beneficial in a lot of ways.

I'm a vegan and completely against hunting as a sport or anything other than a means for survival. I don't begrudge those that do like it but it's not something I would ever consider doing.

I'm big into deer hunting....along with basically everyone else in my state come fall. And before anyone bitches....I hunt on my own land, I don't use food plots or bait, I don't shine deer, I butcher the deer myself and eat all of it, and I donate the hide to Hides for Habitat. For me, it's basically a big week-long guy's adventure hanging out, hunting, drinking some brews in the evenings and having fun. The cheap meat is a great prize as well. Even with all the costs involved, I figured out at the end of the day I'm saving over $1.50 a pound vs. going and buying some frozen meat at the grocery store. Plus venison is super lean, and has no added chemicals or modifications since it was killed in the wild. This was a picture I took from my stand opening morning last season....what a beautiful sight.

Not gonna get on a soap box against those who enjoy hunting, but I wouldn't be able to kill an animal. It would make me sad. I eat chicken and meat from time to time and I know an animal has died, but I just wouldn't be able to kill it myself.

I eat chicken and meat from time to time and I know an animal has died, but I just wouldn't be able to kill it myself. I know a lot of people who feel that way. I was 12 the first time I ever went hunting....that was 15 years ago and I still remember feeling kind of odd about killing anything. But the way I look at it, any deer I kill is getting way way better treatment than any pen-raised chicken or pig you're buying at the grocery store. The deer was 'free range' its whole life, and it died pretty much instantly. It never had to be crowded into a barn in a tiny cage with thousands of other animals in filthy conditions and fed hormones....it just went straight from the wild onto my plate. Doesn't get much more environmentally friendly than that.

Like Lorenzo said, I couldn't bring myself to kill something.
Yeah, I eat meat and I know it's dead animals, but I personally couldn't kill anything.

Went once. Shot a squirrel.
It was way too early in the morning and way too cold outside.
Never again.

Hunting is murder.
Going out with a weapon with every intent on ending an innocent life is completely despicable.
I'm vegan and I have a few hunters in my family. It's appalling that I share the same blood with people who can murder and not even think twice about it. Please, reconsider what you're doing. Find a hobby that doesn't end in the destruction of a heart beat.
If you need to hunt something. Hunt a child molester. They actually deserve it.

I can definitely understand and respect why someone couldn't hunt. If I didn't grow up where i did, i would be the same way. In the county I'm in 2-3 people die a year from car accidents involving deer. To me, that's terrifying. If deer weren't hunted here there would be a massive overpopulation. That, of course, leads to disease which could wipe out an entire population of deer.

I can understand why someone could not hunt...but there is no excuse to condemn someone who does. And comparing it to murder is mind boggling

You're taking another living creature's life away, how is that not murder? Noun The unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another. Animals are not humans, and it is not against the law to kill them during certain times of the year. So based off that alone it's not murder. I could give you other reasons, but they fall under opinions more than facts, so I'm avoiding those.

I could give you other reasons, but they fall under opinions more than facts, so I'm avoiding those. Just because man made laws dictate that it isn't murder, you're taking the life of another living being. It doesn't matter if their human or animal, a life is a life. It's all a matter of opinion whether you feel it's murder or not. Me and my fellow vegans think it is, you and your fellow hunters disagree. We feel that all life is equal which is why we feel the way we do about it, we shouldn't be mocked for feeling that way.
