The hunt is great once you figure out when your local stores get stock. If you check certain stores and see the same employees every other day or whenever, they will feel more inclined to help you out... which in turn makes the hunt more rewarding than finding empty shelves and wasted gas on your own.

I wish figures could have release dates like games do.

It's a fine line. I love the feeling of finding something I really really really want. But I hate going to stores dozens of times and not finding anything.
I'm going to vote for "Hate it" simply because as a consumer, I don't think it should be THIS difficult to find an item. It's like I'm driving myself crazy trying to throw my money at Mattel but stores never having anything new. I shouldn't have to try this hard to spend my money to the point where I almost want to give up.

I know what you mean, I personally don't like pre-ordering/buying figures online due to the fact that they're overpriced. So I like to wait for retail, only to end up wasting money on the subway/time etc and not finding anything. Ebay used to be good a while ago, but now it's hard finding a decent deal.

I can see the logic behind online ordering for people who just have to have certain figures for there collection. For me, if I can't find it @ retail, or my friend can't find it, I apparently don't need it. There's nothing like the thrill of turning into a toy aisle & seeing that figure you've been looking for hanging on a peg. You just don't get that from ordering online. I think the hunt is what makes it fun. If you found everything the day it came out it would be no fun.

I love going figure hunting. The only problem i have is that i usually don't bring enough money. But if i do bring alot of money i never find anything.

The hunt was good when I had nothing, now I'm down to a few things left I need to get I'd say the first week or so was awesome but after that it became a pain

The hunt is one of the reasons I love collecting. Buying on the internet takes alot of the fun out of it for me. Its gets annoying seeing alot of the same crap over and over, but when I do find something I want, it is an awsome feeling. Just had it when I found E19 HBK a few days ago.

I like it at times, but I'm almost 85% ordering online nowadays. I'm not a completist and only cherry pick my favorite figs so it makes it reasonably affordable to pre-order my fav figs and get em super early from RSC. I pre-ordered E20 Punk before images were even up and I got the fig quick and have been using it in my fig fed for weeks now. Store exclusives are tricky I usually hunt a lil for em or break down and order em loose or cheap. 'm in NJ so were usuaally one of the last states to get figs in so I usually am too impatient lol.

Traffic is brutal where I live, and it just isn't worth going out and finding bare shelves and swapped/stolen figures. I find myself spending more for a figure online, but I probably save money overall because I am making less impulse buys and saving on gas.

Loving the hunt right now.... there are 3 K Marts within driving distance of my house, one right near my work, so with the great sales they've been having since January I've had a blast stopping by and finding cool, random, cheap figs...
I'll be stopping by again tonight to see if I missed any Rumblers for my son's Easter basket...
My TRU is close, but a pain to get into due to traffic - and they hardly ever restock, so it's frustrating when I leave there disappointed about 9 times out of 10. But then, that's where I found Miss Elizabeth (which rang up for $12.99), and that was awesome, so I guess the 1 in 10 times is worth it... plus I like finding TRU exclusives.
I live within close driving distance of two Wal Marts - they both suck and the shelves are almost always empty. I don't usually go there just to hunt for figures...
I just discovered a second Big Lots not to far from me, and I'm hoping they get more stuff soon - I picked the one pretty clean and the other one only has two "Defining Moments" Undertakers (I bought the third one).
I love the hunt! Makes me feel like a kid again (except now I have my own money and can buy stuff). I like taking my son along hunting, except he is too young to know when stuff is a total rip-off, he wanted me to buy him a Basic HHH from Sears when it was 12 bucks - he didn't understand when I explained I could get him one at K Mart for 7 bucks....

Target never has anything by me anymore, have they stopped carrying elites nationwide?

Target never has anything by me anymore, have they stopped carrying elites nationwide? Nope. The Target down the road from me dropped Elites right after Christmas, but then returned them a few weeks ago after their reset. If your store hasn't reset yet then you may be in for some figures in the near future. You'll recognize the reset by the insane amount of shelf space they clear for the Iron Man peg-warming movie toys. Seriously, those look like Happy Meal figures.

Seems like they are getting easier to find with the last few waves of elite figures, at least in my hood.

I swear that my Target has empty pegs 90% of the times I go there. I don't make it a "priority stop" when I'm figure-hunting anymore. I can't believe the management finds so many empty pegs so often acceptable.

The Target down the street from me has four best of 2011 Randy Orton elites that they will likely never get rid of.

I used to love the hunt, but now I just don't look for anything specific and get surprised if I do find something that I want. With gas prices the way they are now its hard to just drive to multiple places and then drop $100 on figures. That's what I do all the time, I go into stores with no hopes or expectations. Because usually if I have expectations I don't find a single thing.
