I figured it put this in this board (Since I dont stick to collecting one specific brand.)
I didn't really think alot about this, But It seems to be a lingering thought and something I'd never want to come to. Recently I haven't been buying many wrestling figures (I think I bought a few deadpool figures a month ago which rang up a high price) but that's because I don't really share an interest in mattel products but when I do collect I seem to not really bother with the item I've bought. I've heard people say that once they have sold off their collection, they would regret it later down the road so this has me put off in my mind I mean I've been collecting for about 7 years so they're very close to me. Its probably because I'm getting older and don't really bother with them as much because I am rarely in the house.
So my question is, Has anyone stopped collecting?
This is something that I haven't been pondering, its surprisingly popped into my mind.

I stopped collecting years ago. My mom quit buying them for me and I didn't have the money to buy my own. And by the time I had the cash to buy my own, there were other things I wanted to spend my money on more than toys. Now they're too expensive per figure to buy the new ones.. I dabble in older lines a bit..

I sold my entire collection when i was in high school to pay for football summer camp. Football did not work out very well for me so i was looking for hobby and i got back into wrestling figures. It sucks having to buy back the stuff that i once had.

Do you even collect though? I thought you was like me and just bought figures that, y'know - you actually wanted. Not blindly pay out for basics, elites, deluxes, Finishing moves figures just because you could. Your growing up bro! I told you - It's not a bad thing. That's a good thing! Just think of all the money your saving and put it towards an xbox 720.

I stopped long ago but I still like watching others and looking at the old figures. Don't care much for the new ones as I don't really watch the new product to begin with. I don't really miss it because I had long been done with "the hunt" and had all the complete sets of everything I wanted (minus the Rock N Wrestling erasers, though the ones I didn't have weren't even unearthed at the time).

I bought what I thought was my last figure about 12 years ago. I was probably 14 years old. I never thought about figures after that and that part of my collecting past became faded memories. But about 5 months ago I was reminded of my old collection and started to look back into it for fun and all of a sudden it's like I fell in love with the game as much as or moreso than I did back then. But not because of the advancements in technology or scans or heads or scales or articulation. I don't own a single WWE branded figure (I did get three Mattel TNA figures in a lot deal on ebay though) and because I don't watch wrestling anymore (stopped altogether in about 2006) and I don't know who the hell some of these guys are. Jinder Mahal? Ryback? Sheamus? How do you even pronounce Brodus? In five months time I've bought close to a hundred WCW & BCA figures. Figures that came out right at the end of my fandom or were too expensive then when I was just a kid. The magic is reconnecting with what I've realized to be a big part of my childhood. I can't say don't stop collecting. I can say that you can go on collecting only that stuff you really love. Who knows, if I sit down and watch a few weeks of Raw I may really get into some of the guys in the banners at the top of the screen. But I can say from my personal experience, don't sell off your stuff.. Not all of it, anyway. Believe me, if you have that collector bug (and I think most people here do) you're probably going to miss your collection some day.

I was only ever into the LJN figures as a kid and M.A.S.K
Pretty easy to stop collecting, because I had no interest in any figures other than those as a kid, so no point in collecting anything else as an adult. Once I completed my set (about 6 months ago) I stopped.

The best thing about a hobby like collecting is that you can always have a break.

I stopped collecting seriously about a year ago, sold the final bits off at the back end of the last year. Do i miss it? Yes Would i start again? No More important things in my life now and the money i made went to paying off most of my debt and to charity. Although i still have a love for Hasbro's and I will no doubt pick up the odd one or two in the future

Stop collecting if you want but don't sell your figs. You will regret.

Everyone goes back and forth. Our lives change so much on a year to year bases... I was a single guy buying whatever I wanted... Now I'm married with kids and 3rd baby on the way. So, I can't collect like I once did. I just have my Hasbros, some LJN and I buy some Mattel figures, only classic guys. I don't own any newer wrestlers. I don't even own a Cena or Punk lol.
My advice is just limit the collecting. I only add about 2 maybe 3 figures a month to my collection, it may be a MOC Hasbro or LJN or a Mattel Legend. I just don't spend a lot of money and rush into things.

The only problem I have with collecting figures is that it gets expensive if you don't get the figures in retail. I won't sell my collection off I get bored though

As for me, I began collecting at a relatively "old" age (I was 25) back in 2001 and haven't stopped since.

I've slowly been selling my collection, but not all of it. I could never get rid of my classic collection I have displayed, but the stuff in storage can go.
Point being, keep the stuff that you really like and only buy something if you really like it. You don't need to stop, just cut it down and it'll be better finance wise.

I havent stopped completely, but the collecting has come to a natural end as ive got most of the figures i want. I dont think ill ever completely stop but sure, priorities take over, especially when kids, houses and a wife are concerned.
Once i completed my kelian set i said to myself not to start another line, just get the odd bit that pops up that i need.

I stopped completely around 02, I had purchased almost every Jakks BCA figure to date, loose sets of hasbros, galoobs, remcos, no barbarian, sheik, or boris though plus other non wrestling figs from the 80's like secret wars, ghostbusters and star wars... I dumped all my jakks (for next to no $) except for series 1 and 2 superstars...kept the hasbro and galoob loose sets, and sold everything else... about 2 years back I recently started collecting again, mainly trying to re-aquire the awa remco and vintage star wars lines as prices were down...like others have said, life gets in the way and priorities change, but for most of us, you'll always have the collecting bug, if you know what I mean?

I stopped collecting years ago. I think it might have been around 2005-06? I just got to a point where so many figures were getting pumped out & I was spending a ton of money. I still have all of my collection boxed up & in storage. I spent more than 20 years building my collection & the only time I've thought about selling it off was when I have to put my kids through college. Well, I don't have any kids yet, so my figures aren't going anywhere.
