Hey guys, I need some help.
Yesterday my Dad changed the lights in our living room and to do that he had to turn off all the electricity in the house. When he turned it back on, the PC and my parents' TV wouldn't turn on. The PC monitor's light is on so there must be power running though it, but the power button on the tower isn't lighting up.
Same thing with my parents' TV. The light is on but it won't turn on. I've tried all the basics like switching it off and back on again etc.
Any ideas or solutions? Thanks!

It sounds like one of your circuit breakers tripped. Your Dad may have accidentally hit it off when he turned the main on or off. The monitor may be plugged into a socket on another breaker which is why that works. Your TV, Moms TV, and computer may be on the tripped breaker.

Yeah, check the breakers that would be the most logical solution. Other than that, try different outlets. May can just grab and extension cord to do this if TV/PC are difficult to move. You should find your solution between the two.
I guess it is possible that whatever your Dad was wiring he may have wired wrong if the outlets were on the same circuit as the lights but that is unlikely to have an affect. Would have to be wired Light, Switch, then outlet, or something like that which is different than normal, but stuff can be spliced and ran all kinds of ways.
Pretty unlikely that any type of Surge could have fried them, especially 2 items when he was shutting power on/off. Always is a good idea to turn off items prior to killing power to them though.
