First off, I'd like to apologize if this is posted in the wrong place. I didn't think this quite fit into the recommendations thread since I've already bought some books and am just asking advice. I've recently gotten dragged into the comic thing by a friend, and I recently have bought a lot of comics. Not knowing a ton of background information on many of the heroes or anything, where some of the plots start confuse me, even though I begin on issue 1 of the series I've bought and read so far. I was wondering which of these series would be good to continue to pursue issues of. I really enjoy comics in general, and am just wondering what stories are good. These are the ones that I own series one of. I bought a bunch of comics from a bargin bin type store recently, so I've come upon a lot of different series and heroes and hope I've got a hold of some decent stories. Black Panther X-Men The Ray (also have number 2 of this one) Silver Surfer and Warlock Eclipso Marvel Action Universe There are a couple of others that I have issue number one of, as well as some that I have a single digit issue of where i think I could probably catch up on also, but I don't have my pile with me at the moment. Are any of these worth getting into? Some were hard to get into to start off, notably Black Panther. I enjoyed the Silver Surfer one, but am iffy on the story. Any advice is appreciated.

XMen is a great series. But you have to follow the Uncanny Xmen, X Men Classic... There are so many. Spoderman is a great selection too. But, I have to mention. Marvel has started a new Thanos series, and a Rise of Ultron series which are great. The Xmen, would be my ultimate choice. There are alot of apps where you can get digital issues for 99 cents. They also have most comic series printed off in book collections. Can't go wrong with that. Some Colosuss kicking ass!

Eclipso has that Bart Sears artwork, which was awesome for the time. I would definitely say to read that X-men volume. Most of the issues are cheap, and only small parts of it are unreadable. The only issue you'll come up against with those is that around 1997-1998 the issues are hard to find. They're essentially of no value, which is why no stores seem to stock them, and if you'll remember, that's when Marvel went bankrupt which means lower readership and print runs as a result. I'm missing ten issues total from 1-100, between 85 and 100 and I can't seem to find them anywhere, or in good shape when I do.

Forgot to mention, if you like that volume of Black Panther, tonally, the next step is to read the run by Reginald Hudlin. He did two volumes, plus a Black Panther/ Captain America miniseries with art by comic legend Denys Cowan, and the Doomwar miniseries, which wraps up the second volume that he did. Ken Lashley provides beautiful pencils on the second volume, which was sadly unappreciated by many causing the volume to be cancelled early. Haven't seen Hudlin since, but his involvement in Hollywood keeps him busy, I'm sure.

Thanks for the advice, I've read through all of the issue ones that I have and have enjoyed them. I do have one called Blood Syndicate, but I don't think that's going to be anything I like. I ordered these on Amazon after enjoying the X-Men comic so I can get started from the beginning. Eclipso is also very cool, probably my second favorite.

All Star Western, Justice League Dark, wolverine and the x-men are my fave 3 at the moment. All great reads and easy for you to catch up on.

While he can be inconsistent, this book is awesome. I also think his 'Thor God of Thunder' run is the best Marvel Now! title. Good Aaron books include his run on Thor, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider, as well as his magnum opus crime story 'Scalped' and Vietnam story 'The Other Side'.

I would say Batman year one. But the best option you listed is easily Xmen.
