Nonetheless, as a pretty big fan, this is incredibly disappointing to hear. I thought Conventional Weapons was great, and think Danger Days has some of their best work. I always felt that Gerard's writing went largely unappreciated by those that wrote them off as any other "emo" band.

 ing hated them, i was into "emo" music when in highschool and always thought they were over rated. only good song was "honey this mirror isnt big enough for the both of us", everythign else sucked. |

I'd be lying if I said I didn't listen to them back in middle school. Loved their stuff then, and it's always fun to listen some of their stuff every once in awhile. Not my cup of tea anymore, but it's sad to see they're breaking up.

I was a HUGE MCR fan back in high school. Bought all the albums and live stuff. Sucks to see them go.

I too loved MCR back in high school but I never stopped liking them or "grew out" of them. Still one of my favorite modern rock bands ever. I do agree that Gerard's writing was underrated and was kinda cast in the "emo sh**" pot.
Gotta say though, I kinda saw them breaking up. I remember hearing them say that "we like to try to reinvent ourselves with every new album we make" right around the time that Black Parade came out. Only a matter of time before that mindset runs it's course and you end up turning into something you don't want to be. Not saying that's why they broke up, but Danger Days is a far cry from the New Jersey indie rock that got them signed.

Meh, was never the biggest fan, but was a fan none-the-less.

Judging by Danger Days, I don't think they had a clear idea of where they wanted to go with it. It didn't flow very well as an album and I think that's because half the album was rock and the other half was some pseudo pop songs thrown in randomly.
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is still one of my all-time favorite albums and I think I liked it so much that The Black Parade and everything else was a let down.

They used to frequent The Pipeline in Newark many years ago. Every once in a while, Gerard would get thrown down the steps just for sh*ts & giggles.
