Sucks what happened with the Godsmack lol. For the rest I know them I like them but I need something new....Something different.
Devilkiller funny you should say Tantric they are from my town along with Flaw.
Just remembered this and thought you all deserved a laugh. A while back I asked on my FB is there were any good new metal bands out.....3 people recommended......NIRVANA!

If you want some good "bang your f*cking head" metal I'd suggest the Cancer Bats, 3 Inches of Blood, Lamb of God, Volbeat, Black label Society or Machine Head. Other bands I can think of off the top of my head are Dethklok, Gojira, Exodus, Slayer (duh), Pantera (DUH!), At the Gates, Bring me the Horizon's first album, Cavalera Conspiracy, Unearth and Steel Panther is always good for a laugh.

Volbeat has been my answer for everything metal related as of late. Seriously one of the best bands out there right now.

I'm too enamoured with the stuff of the past, especially Swedish metal and underground Australian metal.

I never did see the hype for Slayer though. I don't like the way he sings.

I like old school thrash, new wave of British heavy metal, early death, some doom and black metal too.
Hate nu metal and metalcore.

Question for fellow metalheads in this thread.
When you have to deal with someone who doesn't understand anything about metal but only what they've garnered from the mainstream, do they say to you when they find out you like metal that they 'can't understand what they're singing about'?
It's the one question I've had to endure for such a long time, and for me, it kind of shows how narrow some people's thinking can be.
Is music just all about 'singing' and making out what the lyrics are? That's what I feel is suggested when I deal with people that ask that asinine question to me.
Just wondered if any of you have had similar experience(s).

Just wondered if any of you have had similar experience(s). I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I had this friend back in high school who would only listen to really sh***y pop punk bands, and he always gave me crap about listening to metal. He would always say "I don't understand what they are saying...so it sucks." To me it has always been about the overall sound of it. Sometimes I could care less what the hell they are talking about. If it sounds good to me, then I like it. It's like Kurt Cobain (I know he's not metal) said...melody first, then lyrics. But anyway, back to the story. Ten years have passed since I first met that dude, and he still listens to the exact same bands that he did in high school. It's pretty much as if he never wanted to progress, or learn anything more about music. He is also a guitar player like me. Now...I have far surpassed him as a musician and am very proud of how far I have come. I couldn't of done that if it weren't for metal. The human brain is a pretty crazy thing. Lol like you said, it is very narrow minded thinking, and brainwashing.

Lol like you said, it is very narrow minded thinking, and brainwashing. Thank you, I appreciate your response. It absolutely is the sound, whether it is the chainsaw-like guitars of Mayhem, the brutal double-bass drumming of Mike Smith from Suffocation, the incredible bass of early Fear Factory, amongst countless others, more well-known metal bands or the most underground of the underground. The well-received metal documentaries by Sam Dunn (Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and Global Metal) didn't really show me history-wise anything I didn't already know, but from an anthropological standpoint, metalheads all over the world are passionate about the music, in any language, it means different things to so many people but above all it is not set in stone as to a band is either good or bad based purely off if you can understand them or not. Cheers

Do you like Negura Bunget, Doomrider?
I heard about them in Terrorizer a few years back, them and Sear Bliss stood out as brilliant folk-inspired metal bands from Europe.
