I haven't seen one of these posts in a while, so it's time to get everyone's updated opinion.
I remember a thread like this last year about this time, and my response was Christian. Not only for a new modern scan but a Flashback as well, and Mattel delivered. Maybe my want list will get made this year.
So, for me, I think Cena definitely. The scan he has now is a minor re-sculpt of a scan that has been seen since RingsideFest 2011, only the re-sculpt has that sculpted hair line around the temples that they inexplicably leave unpainted and is smaller, resulting in the googley eyed painting. And when I see that the t-shirt figure is the unaltered head with the skin painted to be hair it really makes me wonder why they needed to re-sculpt anyway. If you've not seen the unpainted hair on the temples, just look at E17, BOPPV Elite, E20, or B24 to see.
I would've said Big Show, but that's finally happening. As are updated basics of Kidd and Gabriel, although we won't know just yet when those are coming.
Hopefully B30 Miz will be an update, otherwise I see it warming alongside the B25 ones that haven't moved yet.
I'm ready for a new Orton, swagger, and Barrett, as well.

I think Swagger is definitely in need of a new head-scan. Especially since he's wearing his hair longer & a beard. Unfortunately, because of his behavior, he will likely get buried again after WrestleMania. So MDT if your reading this. Get him scanned soon, please.

Miz and I hope they do a new Elite one of these days. He hasn't had a spot in a main Elite set since series 11. It's ridiculous.

To be honest, and I know they just made her, I think AJ could benefit from a new scan as well. Neither B24 or E21 really look right. I'm curious to see which one they put on her B30 figure.

I don't think Cena urgently needs it. Yes, it is old, but he virtually doesn't change anything about his looks facewise (hair style, facial hair, etc.) so I wouldn't mind if they just keep cycling his already used scans randomly.
One big one for me is D Bry. He needs a bigger beard and shaggy hair .... hopefully in B30 we'll see that w/ NO attire.
The Miz also has been mentioned and he needs it too. He needs his new hair style and maybe stubble.
I would have said both Punk and Big Show, but fortunately we've seen the new scans for B29 so they're accounted for. I'd also really like to see a new Sheamus scan .... maybe B30?

Basic 24 has a good shape to her head and accurate features, but the sculpt is very soft and the hair has an unrealistic lack of detail. I wonder how many artists work on the scanning team, refining the scans into sculpts, because some guys get hyper-detailed long hair (B20 Natalya, Trent Baretta, The Usos, etc. etc.) but others get play-dough spaghetti for hair (AJ, Heath Slater's rookie fig/B28). It looks like the work of different artists to me. |

I have yet to see someone complain about the cheesy smiling Big Show head until now. My faith in humanity has been restored! I found an Elite 4 Big Show, lacking singlet, at the thrift store the other day. His head had a couple of permanent marker marks, so I worked on his head for hours yesterday. After repainting his brows, I added it to the BOPPV Show, and it has redeemed it a little bit.
Anyway. I would like to see better scans for Swagger, Punk, Cesaro, Rock, Rhodes, and Edge. I'd like to see a really good Rated R Edge. Away from that- Kofi, Mysterio, and Miz all have this awkward problem where their heads look swelled in a way. Last- when they make a woman figure, they need to step to the plate. Most girl figures look like "some chick" instead of "some likeness of girl X"

It's not even a scan, Mattel admitted that in another thread a few months ago. They say he's too busy to ever be scanned. I really wish that they could catch him. Something about the bald sculpt makes him look like a peanut. They really just guessed what his head looked like, and it lacks any real detail past the hairline. People don't have perfectly smooth heads underneath their hair, he should have bumps, contours and folds at the base of his skull in the very least. And now that they keep 'roiding up the new Elites, the Rock is now skinnier than Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler. Of course, the Q&A had the roundabout 'NO' by saying no plans right now for a new body, we'd rather spend the tooling budget on other parts. |
