OMG I haven't seen a truer thing said about this whole fiasco. You know how Daniel Bryan got over? He didn't embrace the Yes! chant, he blatantly yelled "No!" at every opportunity and look how over he is now that he can incorporate BOTH chants into his taunts. They screwed Fandango royally with this one. Sorry for double posting, but D Bry got over because he was a hard working independent wrestler who was always one of the best in the ring to begin with. The fans knew he was something to begin with and loved him from the start. WWE was the one's who pushed D Bry's whole "Yes" and "No" stupid chant thing which did force a lot of D Bry fans to stop liking him thinking he is acting idiotic now and having a childish sense of humor fighting with Kane. It was funny in Jan or Feb 2011 for the whole week it started, but now much like fandangoing it's gotten old. The only ppl who really like D Bry are little kids, Cena/ baby face lovers, and ppl that are just easily amused. lol But the whole "Yes" and "No" thing was horribly stupid, and did not make D Bry who he is today. His hard work and dedication to the sport did, and the fans noticing this long ago put him over. I hear what you're saying but I find it hard to believe that D Bry was moving his merchandise in the store based on his hard work and dedication alone. He's a gifted technician no doubt, but I'm willing to bet those same fans weren't jumping at his maroon-coloured merchandise until the whole YES/NO chant started. I think there's a lot more to "getting over" than simply being able to wrestle in the ring - it's also cutting promos to sell tickets and pushing merchandise to sustain your spot at the top of the company.

Spot on, IMO. WWE is about entertainment as well as the wrestling. Wrestling purists will go to ROH or similar feds if they want to see high quality technical wrestling. If they want entertainment, then WWE and TNA are generally the places to go. Wrestlers without decent gimmicks in the WWE generally look dull and boring, although there are exceptions.

^WWE's much more of an attention whore, so I'd go with aging mom who acts/dresses like her teenage daughter analogy. This is WWE.
