For me it was wwe itself that made me stop watching. I would buy dvds or VHS tapes of the ppvs and I would notice how wwe changes its own history. I remember one where they deleted Jesse Ventura from commentary, so there would be Gorilla talking then a long pause then back to Gorilla.
That really ticked me off.
Then the thing that made me say F that noise was wrestlemania 22. Mickie James had a match with Trish Stratus in which Mickie did a pretty risky/sexual taunt. This taunt has, as far as I know, ALWAYS been deleted from every video release put out by wwe.
That seriously ticked me off.
Vince can have a kiss my butt club in where he pulls his pants down in the middle of the ring exposing himself to millions of people, but dont ever show two women doing something similar with there clothes ON.
That was the first ppv I didnt buy. And since then I havnt bought any wwe ppv or watched much if any wrestling.

The reason I stopped watching 99% of the current product is because I feel like nothing surprises or excites me, save for WrestleMania and Survivor Series (the latter's card always dissapoints me). WrestleMania is about the only time of the year I start to pay attention (via web and not actually watching on TV).
I would say after WrestleMania XXIV, I started to stray a bit and in 2009 I didn't pay much attention at all. I did however become really excited for WrestleMania XXVI, but immediately after it was over I lost all interest.
I still watch and enjoy all classic stuff. I but DVDs and VHS throughout the year of stuff (I would say 1984 - 2004).

Nothing will EVER make me stop watching wrestling. I personally feel like I witnessed an ultimate low for the current era with the closing of Wrestlemania but I'm still hanging in there, lol.
Wrestling's like music. You gotta look for the really good stuff or you'll end up getting pissed every time a stupid song/Raw comes on the radio/TV and swear up and down that music/wrestling just sucks nowadays. When WWE's doing great, I'm watching it and it has my full attention. When it sucks, I have PWG, ROH, and Chikara to fall back on.

I stopped watching for a few months after the Cena/Nexus storyline went to crap.

I stopped watching wrestling from mid 2005 to the summer of 2007. I was in high school playing football. I spent all my time in the weight room and on the field. If i could go back in time i would have watched wrestling instead.

Almost stopped when Lesnar left, but once Angle left (no thanks to watching TNA), I was done for a while.

It became too predictable and stale for my tastes. I love wrestling, but I just can't stand the current product.

I really don't know if there was anything specific, but the John Cena run certainly hasn't helped.

I missed one Raw and then never watched it again. Not sure why, just happened. Don't really miss it.

WrestleMania is about the only time of the year I start to pay attention (via web and not actually watching on TV). This. I stopped watching after WM XXIV, and the only PPV's I've watched since then are ones with The Rock involved. The reason I stopped watching... I grew out of it I suppose. I got bored. I had stopped 2004-06 anyway so it wasn't hard to stop again. I probably used my figures for a good year after I stopped actually watching the product. The adverts in Raw really frustrated me - just as I was getting interested there would be another ing ad break. The last time I watched Raw was probably when I went live just after that WM - I hadn't watched an entire show for moths before that. I would follow vaguely online, mostly here, but I wouldn't watch it. When I was a kid I enjoyed all the action and promos, but when I grew up I never learnt to appreciate what others here would call the art of a good match. I just never really got it, so my interest waned to the storylines and the backstage stuff. Eventually I got bored of that.

I didn't like that it was being catered towards kids. I stopped watching WWF & focused mainly on the NWA, UWF & WCCW. But then WCCW folded & Turner bought the NWA & turned it into WCW. I tuned in for a few years, but slowly lost interest. When I first saw ECW, I was completely hooked again. But then that folded as well.
And I know things have to change, but I liked it better when wrestlers looked like scary, atomic bomb farting, baloney sandwich eating monsters. Now most of them have sculpted eyebrows, bleached teeth, are way too tan & look like they're Barbra Streisand ticket holding friends of Dorothy.

They can pay a boxer an exagerated amount of cash to come in and make your talent look like a clown. So im sure they can fork over the cash to pay there commentators. Wwe just loves to either poop on or ignore it's own history. And I hate that. Wwe should always stand by there product. They deleted Jesse cause they wanted to. Just like when you watch smackdown or any other recorded show, they splice in huge fan reactions in spots they want. You'll see the crowd is non active in the background yet the audio is of a crowd going nuts.

One shows you how the company has money to spare to hire a man for god knows how much money for a one time deal. And the other shows you how the company loves to edit what they show the public. I think they both relate exactly to what I first said.

Didn't think so... Lol

I don't watch Smackdown! or any of the other lower shows and I mostly use Raw as background noise, hell I'm falling asleep by 9pm anyway. I don't order the PPVs unless it's the Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania, however, this year I skipped both. I'm just not into it anymore. I follow along on message boards and "news" sites.
I would much rather watch my old VHS tapes of Prime Time Wrestling and older PPVs than worry about any of the product today.

I would much rather watch my old VHS tapes of Prime Time Wrestling and older PPVs than worry about any of the product today. I'm finding a re-kindled love for the 80's in WWF these days. As a kid I watched mainly the memphis territory until around 93 then I got into WWF full time. I remember watch SvS 88 or 89 over and over again though. I had the VHS. But as I got older, since I didn't watch it regularly like so many of you, I became kind of jaded with it. The over the top gimmicks ETC However, going back now, with my sour taste on the current product, I've came to appreciate that time period. At least they made the audience believe that everything meant something. From opening match to closing bell. The titles meant something and they gave you a reason to care about the guys. I now see why so many of you love the Golden Era and I would count myself as one of those who love it.
