Howard is an idiot. This dude left Orlando because he wanted to play in a bigger market, then couldn't handle it n bolted for Houston. U can't write this stuff. Even if Houston gets josh smith I don't see them as contenders. After watching dwight all season he def is overrated.

Eh, I dunno. Trading Noel and a 2014 pick for an expensive PG? Signing Tyreke to a big deal? Smart....I dunno, not terrible moves but those could be terrible if Evans gets complacent like he did in Sacto and the Pelicans pick winds up in the lottery. I loved the Iggy deal for the Warriors and Howard to the Rockets is awesome too. The West is NUTS The 2014 pick is only thing I don't like about that trade. Parlaying a player they didn't need (Noel) into a quality starting all-star PG is a great move. I actually really like Evans, that man can score in a variety of ways. A caveat to the Iggy trade is that the Warriors are also going to part with Jack and Landry to make room for his deal. They've limited their depth, suppressed a rising star and over paid a near 30 year old Iggy who's best asset is his defense. I can see him being a Gearald Wallace in a couple of years. I like Noel a lot, he wasnt ranked the #1 prospect coming into the draft for no reason. They could've made him work with eyebrow. I like Evans too, but he has been very inconsistent in Sacto and now will be fighting for shots with JRue and Gordon and Anderson? I dunno I agree on AI and the Warriors, might ruin chemistry but he is a difference maker, I think this makes them better and pushes them over the hump. His deal is only for 4/48, how is that too much? (NOT you but the other dude who said it) That will in no way ruin their chances of signing Klay and Barnes since when tehy both come off the books the Warriors will have 38/24 million respectively on the books. Also, anytime you need to mention "IF ERIC GORDON CAN STAY HEALTHY"....its not a good sign, he wont stay healthy.

While ESPN was still reporting about how Dwight Howard was uncertain they had some reporter from Houston on the phone and if I didn't watch the NBA before with the way he was talking about the Rockets I would have thought they were the greatest NBA team ever. I also found it amusing that he was saying one reason why Dwight would prefer the Rockets was that they were a playoff team last year and the Lakers were not. Uh what now?

I mean its not even debatable who the better team is. Houston easily has a better chance to win now then the corpses of Nash, Gasol, and Kobe. It was the right move from a winning stand point. Plus he left more money on the table, and people are still giving him crap for it. If he woulda signed with the lakers everyone would be saying "he's selfish, all about the money". He was going to be scrutinized either way.
Granted I'm not defending him. He handled this like a clown, and he deserves crap for the way he handled everything. He doesn't deserve crap however for the decision he made; clearly it was the best move for him to win now.

Houston was his best option except for the $ part of it. If he went back to LA, they could gear up for 1 run maybe depending on Kobe's health and after that it is uncertain.
Houston was his best option out of the choices he had. Teams right on the cusp like the Bulls, Spurs, OKC, Indiana, weren't options.

He's still making a TON of money. He's over that $20 million a year threshold and that puts him as one of the 2 or 3 highest paid guys in the league. I'll believe it's about winning 1st when guys start taking a lot less. If you're really about winning, why not take $10mil a year giving the team more flexibility? You can build a dynasty that way.
I think Portland may make the playoffs this year. Certainly fighting for one of those lower seeds. The bottom of the West is so bad now that even the meager moves they've made has them climbing the charts. That's a bad thing btw. If that happens they lose next years draft pick to the Bobcats.

Portland, Dallas, New Orleans should all battle for the 7-8 spots next year.
OKC, San Antonio, Houston, Clippers, Memphis, Warriors then who knows.
Nuggets maybe too? Big drop off after the Warriors.

Not many examples of guys in their primes taking paycuts like that... are you really holding that against Dwight? Dwight specifically? No. The farce that players want to win first when they take 20 million dollars? Yes. Honestly, I think players look at huge contracts as another way of winning. I even laugh at Dirk's willingness to take a cut when he's clearly past his prime and was just making $22 million. Maybe if he would have had some foresight, he would have taken 6-8 less a year back when he signed it and Mark Cuban wouldn't have cheaped out on him.

That's about right, maybe even in that order. I'd probably say Minnesota too if they stay healthy. There's gonna be a ton of bad teams next year, more than usual.

I bet two .500 teams get into the playoffs in the East, there are 5 great teams then just drops off. Miami, NY, Brooklyn, Indy, Chicago........Cleveland/Washington.......Toronto/Detroit/Milwaukee/Atlanta...Celtics...Orlando/Charlotte/Philly

DETROIT (AP) — A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press that the Detroit Pistons have agreed to a $54 million, four-year contract with free agent Josh Smith.
Well that shook things up even more.

Really am iffy on the Josh Smith signing, placing him at 3 will hopefully work, but I'm leery about signing yet another guy to a big contract, see, Gordan, Ben and Villaneuva, Charlie. Looks like out starting 5 is going to be Knight, Pope, Smith, Monroe, Drummond, unless they get bold and try to get Rondo.

Lakers sign Chris Kaman to back up Pau Gasol for one year. He never went to the playoffs did he? And they want Lamar Odom back too.

Warning to anyone who may have been intrigued by the 7-11 exclusive "Shaq Soda" flavors. I tried the blueberry cream and it's like drinking cotton candy in an aluminum can. It's pure sugar with the most artificial chemical flavoring any lab could have suped up.

Lakers picking up Nick Young and Jordan Farmer. Are they actually trying to compete next season or something? It would be the worst being mid level in the standings, that's the last thing they need. Can't believe Young signed with the vet's minimum though, that's a steal.

Dallas Mavericks sign Monta Ellis for 3 yrs/$30 million.
To be honest, I would put him in the same category as D Wade. I mean, at the end of the day the only thing that Dwyane Wade has that he don't have is more wins and 2 championships, that's it. But as far as playing on the same level, competing every night, both ends, shooting inside, outside, fastbreak, transition, Monta Ellis have it all.
