Going to an advanced screening tonight and I gotta say, even though I don't expect much from it... still pretty pumped to finally see it.
The story intrigues me without knowing too much. I just really hope it's not the usual horrible horror/suspense film.
Anyone else excited to finally see this? Thoughts in general? NO SPOILERS

I've had my eye on this movie for a while, seems a very unique story, unfortunately I just don't know when I'll see it, with Man of Steel, This Is The End, Despicable Me 2, Monsters University all this summer and 2 trips im saving for Definitely let me know how it is

I'm very intrigued and will undoubtedly see it, but I hope there's something more to it than the traditional home invasion angle. The backbone of the premise (the all crime being legal one night of year) is just so cool that'd I'd hate to see it wasted on such a drawn out concept. For all I know, there's already information out there confirming one way or the other, but I've decided to keep my knowledge at a minimum going into it.

Just got home. It's was a GOOD movie. Like most movies, it was quite predictable, but still good.
The overall story was actually quite decent and was a pleasant surprise.

I actually really want to see this. It got a pretty crapty review from IGN (not that they're the end all of movie reviews) but I think I'll still end up seeing it anyway.

What a concept!
From a review of Zebraman 2: ATtack on Zebra City "The film does present an interesting plot element, being Zebra Time, where the authority has a 5 minute window each day to purge the city of those it deems unworthy."

I went and see this today.. If you haven't seen it yet, you're not missing much. Agreed. I think it was a total let down but it is making bank at the box office. Good for them I suppose..

Didn't like it at all. It was exactly what I feared - an incredibly cool and intriguing concept completely wasted on a drab home invasion story.
I enjoyed the hell out of the group attempting to get in, though. Their minimal screen time was the only enjoyable part of the film for me.

I feel like the movie was obviously attempting to be some kind of social commentary on Rich VS Poor; but the film wasn't quite smart enough to execute it the way it wanted to.
The characters were extremely one dimensional; and having the guys outside talk with that heir of "class" (toodaloo, folks) didn't make them seem like they were sophisticated; they seemed like morons.
Great concept, poor execution.

I love the idea of the film, but not expecting anything. I'll see it at some point, but I'm not in a hurry.

I know I'm no writer or anything but I was hoping for something along the lines of this, using some of the current story. Same story, because the 12 hour no law enforcement thing is pretty awesome. But what happpens is, 30 minutes before The Purge, the father gets into an argument with the daughter and her boyfriend, about them being together, causing the boyfriend and the daughter to run off and leave the house. Now with the Purge under way, the father must go out looking for his daughter, and you see all the crime taking place on the streets as opposed to TV bits and in house destruction. And this carries on from there, trying to protect his family. I personally thought this would have made the movie MUCH better.

Wow. Heard nothing but bad things, it seems. Guess I'll just see Fast 6 again until 'This is the End' and 'Man of Steel'
